BLACK JULY 2001 !!

New Zealand Tamil society will observe BLACK JULY 2001 together with other Tamil organisations in New Zealand. Phase I of the programs will be staged on 28th July 2001 evening , at the Mt Roskill War memorial Hall. The programme will speak about the agonies we under went during the BLACK JULY in 1983 and the aftermath of that. The day's programme will revolve around the BLACK JULY events and the consequences of it... PROGRAM: *** Classical Dances *** Tamil School Children's events *** VIDEO documentary on 1983 July and aftermath.... *** Drama *** Songs *** events from other organisations VENUE: Mt Roskill War Memorial Hall May Road Auckland. Tamil School in Pakuranga !

NZ Tamil Society would like to announce that the Tamil School for children in Pakuranga area is now functioning . Mr S. Sathiyaselvan , former President of our Society, was present in the opening ceremony and wished all the success for the kids in their learning. The class session was formally commenced by the Tamil school coordinator Mrs. S. Jayaseelan . 9 kids were enrolled to learn the Mother tongue in the first class conducted on 16th June 2001, at 3:30 PM. CLASSES WILL BE CONDUCTED EVERY SATURDAY FROM 3:30PM TO 4:30 PM. NZ Tamil Society now co-ordinates with UNHCR

The New Zealand Tamil society has been accepted by the Bangkok ( Thailand) branch of UNHCR for sponsoring Tamil refugees' re-settlement in New Zealand. This would enormously help in expediting the resettlement matters of the people concerned. Details of those who are registered with the Bangkok branch of UNHCR for Resettlement can now be informed to the NZ Tamil Society to expedite the resettlement process.
