Drew's New And Improved Page

fillupThere used to be an annoying sound that would play when the page opened. It was from that great computer game DOOM, and it's probably illegal to have on this web site. If you liked it you can click here to play it. Next:

FillupThis page started off without a purpose in 1998. Then I ignored it for a while. Then revamped it and tried to spread Simpsons love. But again I ignored it for a while. Now I'll use it to gripe, spread my own views, and gripe. I'm sure it won't be ignored as much because I get pissed off alot. However, as I live in Boston, the first messages are not about what pisses me off, but what makes me happy. They'll most likely be the only positive thoughts on this page. Let me apologize ONCE in advance for my horrible spelling. Deal with it. To respond, criticize, ask a question, or otherwise contact me, click RIGHT HERE!

Red Sox!

CONGRADULATIONS to the 2004 Boston RED SOX! I was fortunate enough to get an apartment that looks out to Fenway Park. It's a shame that the winning game wasn't at Fenway, that would have been much more fun. Through my window I could hear the cheers of the fans. Games I had to watch on TV were more fun when the volume was OFF: it's the next best thing to sitting in small seats with your feet in nacho cheese and actually being there. Perhaps someday I'll put up my video of the victory "riots" after Mientkiewicz caught that final toss. (The Riots will spur the topic of the first gripe...) That was a good time. So once more, CONGRATS RED SOX! And Thank You Theo for not only bringing back V-Tec, but making him Captian like he deserves.

Patriots!

CONGRADULATIONS to the 2004-2005 New England PATRIOTS! I still won't say the "D" word here, but you've got to admit, the likes of these Patriots have rarely been seen in the history of sports. Best of luck to Bruschi, get well and we hope to see you next year, but if we don't, no one can blame you. The number 54 will not look the same with a different name over it. CONTRATS PATRIOTS!

Fenway Park

Riot "Victims" As stated above I'm a big Red Sox fan, and I live next to Fenway Park and Landsdown St. in Boston. For those who do not know, Landsdown St. runs along Fenway Park behind the famous Green Monster and the new Monster Seats, and is home to a handful of popular bars and clubs frequented by the large population of college students that reside in Boston.
fillup Now I want to make something clear right here. I feel terrible about the tragic accident that took Victoria Snelgrove's life. I do not think she should have died, and my condolences go out to her family and friends.
fillup However, I do not think her death should be used as an instrument to ban law enforcement from using so-called "less-than-lethal" weapons. Allow me to explain something that no one else seems to be putting in their reports: she was in a RIOT. She wasn't just walking down the street and got shot. She was RIOTING. Now: I was in that riot too. I watched the Red Sox make the greatest comeback in sports history and defeat those damn Yankees in a bar at the end of Landsdown St. I, like every other person watching the game in a 10-block radius, flooded out of the bar and onto Landsdown. I and my friends lingered for a while, walked to the other end of the street through the forming crowd, and headed toward Kenmore Square. By the time we hit the end of Landsdown the streets were so packed with people you could barely move. My group of friends and I wandered towards Kenmore, (saw two amazing pairs of breasts-thank you to the two girls standing on that car...if you're reading this, give me a call....) separated, lifted a girl up onto my shoulders so she could find her friends, and witnessed the antics of drunken fans. When we all found eachother we called it a night, my friends went home, and I began to make my way back through the crowd. By now there were a few fires in the streets. The crowd was beginning to thin out, but there were still some die-hards trying to stretch out the victory for as much destruction and mayhem as possible. Haven gotten all of my rioting out in the previous Patriots riots at Northeastern (that's a fun story, if you ask nice I'll tell it....) I just wandered back down Landsdown, past everyone who climbed the supports for the Monster Seats, past the two girls publicly making out on the wall of the parking garage (good for you), past the wall of police that was beginning to form, and on to my apartment. The entire way back from Kenmore Square, every police officer I saw was asking people to head home. Of course no one was listening, so the police began to form THE WALL.
fillup What's the point of this story? The total time between the last beautiful out of Game 7 and reaching my apartment was over an hour and a half. Up to that point the police hadn't even threatened the use of force to break up the rowdy crowds. Anyone who was around when the pepper guns went of had no business being there. They were there to cause trouble, or they were there to be really close to trouble. Either way, no one was just an "innocent victim" or an "innocent by-stander". So I'm sorry for death of Victoria, it was a tragic accident, but it wasn't the fault of the police, and it wasn't the fault of the gun or pepper bullet. The police did not act poorly, they did not use unjust force, or even excessive force. But they were unorganized and acted too late. And who knew we'd come back after being down 3 games to none? The planning for a victory just wasn't there, and no one should be suprized by that. Over a week later when we won the World Series it was a much different scene. Landsdown was shut down, Kenmore was shut down, there was no place for rioters to go, so they went home (after celebrating on Ipswitch St.....ask me for the video, I was there...).
