So this is our story, which you may not care to hear, but its at least kind of interesting.
We are called Kids on Probation or K.O.P. We come from trashy but beautiful El Cajon in San Diego, California(beeeeeeeooooch)! We started back in February of 1997 with shitty ass equipment and no drummer. It was just Me, Paul and Andrew playing drummerless punk songs in Paul's garage. The first K.O.P. song ever written was called "Asshole Cops," which we still play today. Pretty soon we had such songs like "Beer Run," "Frustrated," and "Sex 4 Drugs." These songs were typically angry teenager songs about everything from how the police opresses young people and other minorities, to how people will do anything for a fix of their drug of choice, including having sex.
When we got our drummer, Martin, we improved drastically and it all finally fell together like clockwork. We played our first show with Martin at a party. We had the whole place jumping, with beer in our stomachs and fun in our veins , We had a great time. One of the windows in the hous got broken by a stray slam dancer. That wouldn't be the last time something would end up smashed or broken at our shows. Things always seem to end up getting broken or somehow fucked up. Usually its not our fault. It comes with the territory, I guess.
The brand of hardcore we play is not like the hardcore that many people tend to think of, which generallly consists of these Straight Edge bands preaching about the same old shit playing heavy metal instead of true hardcore. We play a style which blends the chaotic nature of old punk bands like Circle Jerks, Wasted Youth, Minor Threat, and the Exploited with the intricate musical stylings of more complex bands like Bad Brains and Descendents.
Playing the same old verse-chorus-verse shit got very boring after doing it for about a year, so we changed it up a little bit by adding some dimension to it with more parts to the songs, and ,dare I say it because I may come off as a cock-rocker, solos. This wasn't without sacrificing the speediness of the beats and the anger in the vocals; to do so would be heresy! They broke up in early 1999 as a result of Martin's waning interest. Jose is currently in another band with x-members of Heathen Azure. He is going to start a new project with Andrew soon. That's all for mow
