North Eastern States of India means the states located at the North East part of India. Earlier the entire region is known as Assam. But due to administrative difficulties the North East region of India is divided into seven indipendent states. These seven states are


Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and Arunachal Pradesh.


These seven states are also known as seven sisters of India.

Assamese is the primary language of Assam and it is recognized as an official Language of India. The term Assamese is also used to identify people of Assam like Assamese people.
