As an ORACLE DBA, I was responsible for the following activities:

• INSTALLATION
  Installed ORACLE V6.0 & 7.0 and related tools like SQL* Forms 3.0, SQL* ReportWriter 1.1 in a client/server environment. The installation also involves estimating the size of data files required to hold the data of the application, creation of appropriate size of data files, rollback segments, log files depending on the volume of data for better performance.

• REORGANIZATION OF DATABASE
  I was involved in Resizing and Reorganizing of the database. This helps in effectively utilizing the memory resources. I was involved in shrinking of the database which involves exporting the entire database, deleting the existing tablespaces and related physical files, recreating the tablespaces and physical datafiles with the new size and then importing the database.

• PERFORMANCE TUNING
  By setting Oracle parameters thru INIT.ora which has direct impact on System Global Area (SGA). Creation of appropriate indexes on tables used in the application which helps to achieve better performance. I was involved in Creation of proper rollback segments on existing tablespaces, Deletion of unused Tablespaces in the database and Reorganizing the defragmented tablespaces.

• CREATION OF SCHEMA / DATA DICTIONARY
  I was also involved in creating schemas, enforcing security requirements by creating different users and granting/revoking privileges to them across different applications.

• CREATION OF DATABASE TRIGGERS, STORED PROCEDURES
  I was responsible for creating database triggers for different applications. These database triggers were responsible for updating the History tables, for keeping track of all activities carried out on the master tables of the application. I was responsible for creating stored procedures and stored functions.
  Created forms for reporting the structure of different objects in the schema and the relationships among them. It reports constraints created on those objects, and whether they have been enabled or disabled. Updation of LONG column of different tables which required setting up of certain environment variables.
