Work Experience

Medical Nutritional Specialist 1996-1998, Abbott Laboratories, Malaysia

I was a sales representative holding a quarterly sales budget for an assigned territory. I had been constantly on target and had contributed 26% to the department’s growth. Top sales performer in my division (selling disease specific products for enteral feeding). This is a new division in Abbott, Malaysia and I was in the team since it’s inception.

Duties include daily sales calls, maintenance of customer accounts, product launch and exploring new markets. Other areas of activities comprise: -

• Workshops: Conducted workshops to train medical professionals on the product operations. This involves setting up demo procedures, giving hand-on training, presentation on product portfolios, coordination with hospital personnel.
• Public Forums: Trained in giving talks and presentations on nutritional based subjects to the general public. Topics include Diabetes and you, Healthy Living, Weight Gain and Weight Loss, Dealing with Renal Failure-nutritional tips, benefits of Enteral feeding and other such.
• Continuous Education: Been instrumental in getting the company involved with the Continuous Education Programs that are held for medical professionals, in their respective hospitals. As a result I was part of the orientation program for the hospital’s new staff as well as giving presentations on the advancements in the nutritional field on a regular basics.
• Exhibitions: Have represented the company at major exhibitions and conferences held all over the country.
• Market information: Have been able to gather data on market trends, competitor analysis, new product launch, potential target markets and the design and implementation of innovative marketing campaigns. Actively involved in assisting the marketing departments compile such information and develop a corporate long-term strategy.

Telemarketeer 1995-1996, Abbott Laboratories, Malaysia

Primarily involved in setting up the direct marketing department, right from the selection of the computer software, fine tuning the software package and tailoring it to the exact needs of the company. The database grew from nil to over 10,000 in one year. Experienced gained has been useful in interacting with other South East Asian markets, more so in the case of Singapore, wherein I have been consulted on various occasions.

The next stage involved actual telemarketing services, such as: -

• Coordination with Ad agencies in the development of interactive commercials
• Handling customer inquires

• Making cold calls to prospective customers

• Conducting direct mailing campaigns

Involved in quarterly summary presentation on behalf of the division to the management, which also consisted of reports on actual facts and figures as well as updates and reviews of the direct marketing campaigns.
