The Redefinition of the World Order

The European expansions all over the world and the rising of the European powers especially in the east was a prophecy that foretold in the Holy Quran. In the Holy Quran we read, "They said, ‘O Dhu’l Qarnain, verily, Gog and Magog are creating disorder in the earth;" (The Holy Quran 18:95).

The fulfillment of this prophecy not only takes place once but it is continuing at the end of the 20th century. The first time it fulfilled was the time when the British took over the India and other parts of the world. "The White Man’s Burden" by Rudyard Kipling is a perfect example of imperialism by the European nations and is an excellent example of the prophecy in the Holy Quran. The European nations thought that it is their so-called duty to modernize the world and to civilize other nations who had history and civilized culture for centuries. They were civilized before the Europeans civilized themselves. The Western meaning of civilized society is more industrialized and with more wealth. The West created its own standard for judging people with wealth and industry regardless of moral standards. Kipling’s poem describes that the European thinks they are the only saviors of the world. This thinking is quite similar to the European feudal system that the king has a divine right to rule. As the poem says, "To seek another’s profit / And work another’s gain" (Kipling, 15-16).

The West thought that it is its obligation to help the poor nations. In order to help poor nations the westerners created League of Nations in order to provide peace in the world at the end of the World War I. The League of Nations does not work properly and soon replaced by the United Nations Organization at the end of the World War II. In this way, the redefinition of the World Order took place.

During 19th and early 20th centuries the Europeans were practicing colonialism, the first World Order presented by the Europeans to the third world countries. The colonialism was a foremost form of the imperialism. The Europeans who call themselves the pioneers of democracy were introducing a new form of enslavement through imperialism and by being the sheriff of the world. The Europeans used every means to gain the power, wealth, and to put world under slavery in the name of democracy. In India, they use trade as an economic tie between the Indians and the Europeans. Similarly, they use the same technique to capture China. The Europeans introduced drugs to the natives of those countries who they had captured, and exploited them (in this case was China).

The West who proudly call itself the savior of the democracy, and claimed to be the pioneers of the democracy, contradicted themselves. The hypocrisy by the West towards the world left deep effects after the independence of the countries that were taken by the Europeans. The countries that were independent by the Europeans were facing problems such as, unemployment and were not prosperous, nor were they industrialized.

Today, at the end of the 20th century a new kind of imperialism is imposing through the United Nations Organization. The third world countries are bound with foreign aids and if they do not agree on the conditions imposed by the organizations, they do not get any assistance. The third world countries are not independent properly because they have to implement the offer proposed by the United Nations departments such as IMF and World Bank.

If this is the case where the third world has no option for freedom, they may want to consider forming "A New United Nations for Third World". This "United Nations For Third World Countries" should base on the international laws of justice. The law should base on the teachings of the Holy Quran that is an absolute justice, kindness and kinship. If there is no kindness, kinship and absolute justice then the so called justification of Rudyard Kipling regarding obligations of the West to "help" other countries would lead poor nations in modernized slavery.

The United Nations Organization has failed as the League of Nations had failed to provide peace and stability in the world. The League of Nation worked in order to introduce imperialism to the third world. It failed because the League of Nation was not working on the basis which the Holy Quran teaches us. "The White Man’s Burden" was transferred through League of Nations to the United Nations, but the poor countries of the third world are dependent on the so-called first world. The democracy that the Europeans claimed they introduced the world was hypocrisy, which exists even today.

If the third world nations do want to be prosperous, they need to form a new "United Nations for Third World Countries". This new United Nations for Third World should focus on the problems facing by the third world countries such as economy, education, scientific research and forming infrastructures to the countries that are still lacking of these opportunities. New economic development should create on the principles of justice, kindness and kinship. New plan for keeping peace should made by the third world in order to keep peace in the world. This can only happen when the world would follow the teachings of the Holy Quran, otherwise, there is no any other option that will work. The World has seen the era of two world wars and has created United Nations, but the problems still exist in the world.

This new United Nations for the Third World should based on the Islamic principles of justice and kindness. The principles of justice and kindness given by Islam to the world are far superior then the principles of "The White Man’s burden". "The White Man’s burden" applies only because of the obligation they thought they have. And it was merely for self-interest. It does not have principles of kindness, mutual agreement and justice. However, Islamic principles on the contrary have basis on mutual love, kindness and justice. Today the world need to form a new organization based on Islamic principles in order to keep peace and in order to make countries prosperous. Without the Islamic teachings we will not find prosperity and peace, rather, we will find modernized enslavement and chaos in the world.
