Baltimore Selects Family Members

Catchers:
Tom Jopling #19 - Tom is currently shares the catching duties with Dave Hedger. Tom starred in a TV commercial in 1997 where he promoted Mr.Lube. He also has his face on Peterboro buses advertising Mr.Lube. Tom had a .369 average for the Colborne Rutherflo for the 1997 season, which was 3th on the team. Tom is from Peterborough. Nick Name is Jops.

Dave Hedger #9 - Dave has alot of experience and is counted on for his leadership on and off the field. Dave's biggest strength is being able to read what the batter is going to do and act accordingly. Dave is from Cobourg. Nick Name is Hogger.


Infielders:
Craig Minifie #5 - Craig is a power hitter, who likes to hit homeruns. He reminds me of Jose Canseco. Craig was 2nd on the team in 1997 with 7 homeruns, and held the lead with 7 game winning RBI's. He also had a .341 batting average, good for 6th on the team. Craig plays first base. Can also pitch when necessary. Craig is from Colborne.

Dave Waldie #7 - Dave led the team in 1997 in almost every offensive catergory. Dave had the top batting average on the team with a .429 average, the most hits with 57 and had 5 homeruns for the 1997 season. Dave is the best hitter on the team. MVP of the Fredericton tournament in early September and made the all-star team at the NAFA AA World Series in North Dakota. Dave is from Roseneath and just had a girl on July 27/99. Rob Doncaster #66 - Nickname is Donks or Fun Bob, but I call him Boy Toy Bob. Rob is the vocal leader of the team who never quits. He is also a great hitter, he finished the 1997 season with a .316 batting average. Rob plays 3rd base. Also has some experience at shortstop in his younger days. Bob is from Cobourg. Bob is the beer man.

Pat Rutherford #20 - Snapper shares the duties with Doncaster for 3rd base. Snap has a quick glove and a dangerous bat. He also makes sure there is a bucket of gum on the bench. Can also catch. Snap is from Grafton.

Richard Burkholder #8 - Richard is a utility infielder, who can also play outfield. He is probably the fastest runner in Rutherflo history. Outfielder Chris is his older brother. Nick Name is Dickie.

Derek Wright - Derek is the youngest member on the team. He takes Connelly's place at second base. Rarely makes a mistake. Very quick and smart ball player.Nickname is Tack. Has become a asset to the team.

Outfielders:
Ron Herroit #24 - Ron is the starting centerfielder and is the 2nd youngest player to don a Colborne Rutherflo jersey. He has great speed which he uses both defensively and offensively. Had a respectable .337 batting average in 1997 and led the team with 5 stolen bases. Ron is from Cold Springs. Nick name is Cliff because he was once a mailman.

John Garland #10 - John shares the duties with Evan in left field. John has some good power and is counted on to get the clutch hit when we need it. John is from Cobourg. Nick Name is John Lindsay.

Chris Burkholder #55 - Chris is a solid team and versatile player who was a definate leader with previous teams. Played on Canadian Junior Team with Baranieski. MVP at the eliminations in Owen Sound (1997) while playing for Uxbridge. Also catches a bit. Nick name is Stoph and Burky.

Darrel Buttars - Darrel is a speedy outfielder who can also play 1st base. A high average hitter who is the complete package. He is in his early 20s.

Derek Coyle - Derek has great bat control and brings power to an already powerful lineup. Derek is yet another young great player. Like Minifie, can also throw a few innings when called upon.


Pitchers:
Wayne Wells #?? - Wayne is back.


Byron Baranieski #77 - Byron joined the team for the Fargo Tourney 2 years ago. He was named to the "AA" All World Team and was the MVP of the tourney as well. Byron was also the MVP of the Eastern Canadian Championships Int. "A" in Nova Scotia ('97). Byron lives in Uxbridge. Nick Name is BB's and hates to go slow.



Coaches and Management:
Randy Fife #45 - Randy officially is the coach, but nobody thinks off him that way. Randy makes up the team lineups before the games so I guess that makes him the coach. Randy is also a very good hitter. Randy is from Hastings.

Paul Goodfellow #39 - Paul is the assistant coach on the team. He mostly is the coach on the third base line. He normally gives his advice on anything the team should do. He has lots of softball experience. He will probably see some playing time at shortstop when Waldie gets tired. Paul is from Belleville but lives in Oshawa.


Howard Mouncey #93 - Howie is the manager of the lineup and the field manager. He takes care of player changes. He makes sure the players don't get out of line or get kicked out of the game. Howie also collects money from all the guys for the beer...usually. Nick name is The Duck. br>
Scott Daniel #35 - Scott is the vice-president. He keeps score of each game and usually makes up a stat sheet at the end of each tournament. he also keeps track of the season stats. Nickname is Tattoo and Bruce. He does a great job.

Former Family Members

Bill Shannon #34 - Bill was the veteran on the team. Bill likes to play ball and can't wait to show up to the park on a Saturday morning. You can normally see Bill patrolling the gaps in center field. Bill is from Cobourg. Bill now plays with the Cold Spring Cats. Could easily still play for the Flo. Great bat, with outstanding speed.

Greg Newell #8 - Greg was the starting right fielder and had a booming bat. Greg now plays with the Pickering Heat. In the past couple of years Greg split time between Rutherflo and the Scarboro Thunder. He also played with my father with the Oshawa Merchants in 1991. He wore #26.

Steve Connelly #88 - Steve nickname is squeak. Steve is just a little pup but has the biggest heart on the team. Steve hit 5 homeruns in 1997. He plays second base. He is the captain of the Rutherflo Fastball Team. Steve is from Peterborough.


Jeff Murphy #22 - Jeff has officially left the team as of August 10th/98. But here is his profile. Jeff is the prospect for the Colborne Rutherflo. Jeff's best pitch is the fastball. He also likes the rise ball. Jeff had 9 wins last year and only 1 loss. Jeff is a great young pitcher and should develop into a Wayne Wells's one day. Jeff resides in Peterborough. Jeff now plays with Cobourg Heritage Harbour.

Dave Hare #18 - Dave usually plays left or right field. Hare Bear likes his sunflower seeds and can't go out to the field without some. Dave is a underrated ball player who has some surprising speed. Dave reads the ball off the bat very well while playing outfield. Dave is from Grafton. Dave now plays with Cobourg Heritage Harbour.

Rusty Brooks #?? - Great little outfielder was picked up in the 1995 season. Only played in a couple of tournaments for Rutherflo.

Richard Ferguson #77 - Athletic catcher decided not to return for the 1997 seaon. Great hitter with an positive attitude everyday. Richard now plays with Cobourg Heritage Harbour. Evan Loucks #44 - Evan is the left fielder for the club. Had 8 HRs and 34 RBIs in 98. Evan is quiet and relaxed guy who does his talking with the bat like Dave Waldie. Evan is a legend from Norwood.

Randy Fife #45 - Randy is usually called Barney Fife. Randy was the number one pitcher for the club. His best pitch is his change up and has on many occasions embarrassed a few batters. Barn Yard had 13 wins and only 3 losses in 1997. He also pitched 99 innings, a team high. His ERA was a non existent 1.70. Randy had the tournament winning RBI in Scarborough. Fifer lives in Hastings.

Gary Volwes - Gary is a top pitcher in the Cobourg town league. He has seen action with the club in the past couple of years. Nick Name is Lefty or Left Side.

Shelley Rutherford #1 - Shelley is the general manager on the team. She makes sure the club enters all the tournaments they want to go in. She also books the hotels for our tournaments, and makes sure everybody on the team wears the same uniform to the game. She also tries to keep the players sober.
