-The Daily Mail and Guardian of Johannesburg, South Africa. (daily)

-The Daily Nation of Nairobi, Kenya. (daily)

-The Addis Tribune of Ethiopia. (weekly, I believe)

-The East African. (weekly usually on Thursdays)

-Kakaki, news of Niger. (weekly on Saturdays)

-One World, excellent site on development issues.

US AND EUROPEAN NEWSPAPERS
-The Post-Star of Glens Falls. My local daily.

-The Christian Science Monitor. Not really religious, contrary to what the name might imply. In my opinion, it is by far the top newspaper in the US that I've read. Fair and thorough.

-The Guardian of London. The best British daily. You may have to register for this site.

-The Independent of London. Another good English daily.

-The Globe and Mail of Toronto. Ok, so it's not US or European but it's still a good newspaper. The most well-respected one in Canada.



SOCCER SITES (or football, if you must)
-CNNSI -- World soccer

-Goalnetwork.com

-Football Unlimited of The Guardian of London.

-Mondo calcio of RAI. But you'd better be able to read Italian for this site.

-Sam's Army: USA soccer on the net

-FIFA, the world soccer/football governing body.

-CAF, the African soccer/football confederation.



OTHER INTERESTING SITES
-The Hunger site. You click the mouse and someone else donates food to organizations that feed the hungry. Check it out.

-Big Brothers/Big Sisters of America. I'm a Big Brother in our local organization. You can also click on a link here whereby you can shop at several dozen online sites which will donate 5% of your purchase back to BBBS.

-The Green Party. A link to various state and provincial Green Parties in the US, Canada and Mexico. Before you dismiss them because you *think* you know what they stand for, check out their brief list of ten key values of the Greens

-Jubilee 2000, an organization fighting for the elimination of the debt of developping countries as a step so that those countries can... actually develop.

-The Triumph of Evil. A site from the PBS Frontline documentary of the same name on the Rwandan genocide, how it happened, how the international community buried its head in the sand and how the major Security Council powers (notably France and the USA) tied the hands of the United Nations' preventing an effective UN response.

-Mike Barton's web site, site of a friend of mine and his woman.

-Friends of Guinea

-Hostelling International, a cool way to see the country and the world.

-Children of conflict, a dossier put together by the BBC World Service.

-Child soldiers of Liberia, an excellent dossier put together by Eric Beauchemin of Radio Netherlands.

-The Exodus, another excellent dossier by Beauchemin and Radio Netherlands of the flight of rural children in Ghana to the big cities where too many end up living on the street.
