Tupac Amaru Shakur was born on June 16, 1971 to Black Panther Afeni Shakur.
He would become the crown jewel of the hip hop industry and the ultimate
opponent of society only to die an untimely death. I feel the loss of this
potentially great leader and philosopher deeply. He was brilliant, passionate,
exciting, and tradegic all at one time. Despite the media and others who have
criticized Tupac for his weaknesses and mistakes, I admired and respected this
man. He felt the music and told the stories that brought the reality of urban America
to a society far removed from it. He felt our pain and saw our struggle and voiced it when none could.
He was a guiding light in an America that was shrouded in the shadows of hatred,
violence, crime, and poverty. He rapped the truth as he dispursed myth with his razor edged lyrics.
He felt the power, had the power, and used the power. He was a no limit soldier
who went down in the battlefield of dishonour, jealousy, and lies. Even in his
darkest hour he shone the brightest like a black diamond in the rough. He charged people with his electrifying
magnetism and words, stirring up emotion in all who loved or hated him, even the indifferent. Tupac was always there
revealing truth, opening minds, or giving us something to bob our heads to.
There is no denying that Tupac was the ultimate ruler and champion of the rap industry.
And all eyes shall forever be on him critical eyes, adoring eyes, uncertain eyes.
Tupac I love you and may your immortal legacy live on in the hearts and minds of the many who adored you.
And as long as your music survives your spirit shall live on and your memory not soon forgotten.
May you and Biggie rest in peace.
