To add to the problem, his mind wouldn't rest. Kathrens face was a perment fixture in his dreams, and it only drove him furture over the edge.
Finely, the heat was at boiling point, and Taylor kicked his legs over the side of the bed and walked out the ranch slider door, to the terise.
The cool sea wind soothed his face, tameing his frustation, and calming his mind. For a moment he was sure he could sleep with out having her in his dreams, untill a placide voice came throught the hedge that devided his terise, from the one on the nabouring room.
"Whos there...?" Asked the voice. Taylor cautiously walked over to the hedge, and looked through a gap, only to find him self looking at non other than Kathren.
"Taylor! Is that you?" She stood back in shock, making it so that Taylor could see her completly. His heart pounded at the sight of her in the moon light.
"Yeah its me, Kathren...What are you doing out here? Is that your room?" She steped ford again.
"Yeah, this is my room. As for what Im doing out here, I was going to ask you the same thing!" Taylor examend the fence, hopping there was some way to clime through so he could get closer to her, but there was criss-cross fencing that the hedge was growing on.
"Its to hot to sleep, so I came out for some air...Wait, you mean we have rooms next to each other?" Kathren nodded.
"Guess so! I came out for the same reason. I couldnt sleep in this heat!"Taylor nodded this time, then walked to the edge of the varanda, and leaded around the heage, then turned to look out to the sea.
"Its a shame realy, I mean, were right by a beach! We could go swimming, but instead were up here boiling!" Kathren laughed in a dreamy voice as she too looked at the moon dipped ocian.
"Why cant we go swimming?" Taylor asked, not looking away from his view.
"What, do you want to go swimming...?" She asked, slightly taken back.
"Sure, why not? In this weather I doubt we'le get a chill!" Kathren was silent for a while, considering his joked suggestion.
"Okay then, lets go!"She said after a while.
"What? Now?" Taylor leaned around again, so he was looking at her.
"Yeah now, it was your idea, and a brilliant one at that! now come on, lets go! Ill meet you on the beach in 15 munites okay?" Before he had time to answer, she pulled open her door, and closed it just as quickly. ********************************************************************************************** The waves crashed on the beach in a hypnotising rythem, as Taylor walked down the stone path untill he felt the sand beneath his feet. He walked on through the small sand hills, till he was right on the edge of the water.
Looking around he saw Kathren. She waved to him and began walking towards him.
He couldn't have imadjined a more romantic sight. Her blond hair wofting over her sholders, as the waves washed up against her feet. The moon light added the most astounding affect, that Taylor found him self wishing he could run up to her and declear his love.
For a second he was in a dream, and when he recovered he found Kathren standing only a few inces away from him.
"I was beginning to wonder if you were going to show up..." She said softly.
"I wouldn't miss it!" Taylor laughed, trying to calm him self down if any thing.
"Come on, I want to show you some thing..." She took his hand, and in silence they walked towards the end of the beach to a large hill.
"We have to swim over to there..." Kathren told him, pointing to were the hill curled into a cove, that was lined with caves.
"Are you a strong swimmer?" She added, notising his concern.
"yeah...kinda, but Ill make it" They let go of each others hands, and Taylor followed Kathren to were ever she was taking him. **********************************************************************************************
"Oh, wow!" Taylor breathed as Kathren lit a gas light hanging from the roof of the cave. Inside was a heated thurmal pool, feed by a natural spring on the top of the hill, that flowed down in a small water fall.
"My sisters and I used to come to hawie with our mother very holiday, infact, we have a batch furture along this beach. We havn't gone there in about five years....not scince mum got sick..." She sat at the edge of the pool with Taylor and looked at him for sapport before going on.
"Any way...she showed us this...and it was our special place. No one else knows about it but us, my sisters wouldn't come with me to see it again...Im glad that you did though..."Taylor felt her eyes on him as he looked around the cave.
"Its amazing... and no one else knows about it...?" He was serprised that this wasn't one of the main atractions of the only quite beach in Hawie.
"Not that I know of...I hope not, any way, it wouldn't be the same..." Taylor turned to her and nodded.
"Yeah I guess it wouldn't..." He wispered, looking into her eyes. He felt a shiver run down his spine, as he reached out and put his arm around Kathrens waste.
"Thank you for showing me this place..." Taylor said before leaning over and brushing his lips softly over hers. He pulled away to look at her face and see if the reaction was the same as his.
All he could see in her eyes was shock.
"Im sorry...I shouldn't have done that..." Taylor pulled his arm away, and tryed to apoligise, but instead of slapping him around the face, or running, Kathren put her hand under his chin, and turned his face to her.
"Kiss me again Taylor...please...?" He couldn't beleive her words, but diddn't hesatait to take her in his arms once again, and pull her into a deeper, and more passionate kiss. Her hands ran up his chesk, and through his hair, stopping at the back of his neck, while Taylor was content with the feeling of her lips on his and his hand running up her thigh.
Kathren pushed him away slightly, so their lips were only cetemeters apart.
"Shall we go for that swim now...?" She wispered. He nodded breathlessly, and lifted off his shirt so he wa just in his swimming trucks, while Kathren stood up and slipped out of her dress to reveile a purple bakini.
"Come on then..."Taylor said wickedly. She laughed and jumped in after him.
The water was warm around their bodys, a welcome heat in the cold cave. Taylor swam over to the side of the pool were Kathren was with her back to him.
"Hey..." He wispered, coming up behind her. She diddnt turn to him, just steared at some thing on the wall.
"Whats the matter..?" He asked, concerned at her sudden change.
"Look..." She said pointing to the wall of the cave.
"Mum chipped that out of the stone when we last came here..." On the wall was written;
'To my babys. Always live to love, and always live to live. Never waste a second, because maybe a seconds all you have'.
Taylor put his arms around Kathren again.
"I guess she new when she wrote this..." She wispered, leaning her head up against Taylors chest.
"New what...?" Kathren realised that Taylor diddn't know the whole story about her mother.
"She new she was dieing. She had Cancer, breast Cancer. and it was bad Tay, realy bad...She was told she had about three months to live, and she lived for five years. I think she beleived that she could fight it, but in the end, it was a usless fight..."Tayors heart melted for her, realising the untold pain she lived with every day. He felt useless, but proud thats she chose him to hold her as she wept.
" I miss her Taylor....Oh god....I miss her so much..." ********************************************************************************************** Taylors wish had been granted, he had been able to hold her in his arms as she cried. But he would never have guessed that her vaunrability would make him fall in love with her even more. Now they walked together along the beach, Further down than were the hotels were, down were there were only a few beach house's dotted now and then.
Taylor followed Kathrens lead, not knowing were she was taking him, but desided if it was as plesent a serprise as the first then he would follow her to the ends of the earth, and the end of the beach was a mear distance for him while he held her hand.
"There...!" Kathren said suddenly pointing at the moon lit house, sitting quitly on the edge of the sand.
"Whos is it?' Taylor asked as she begane tugging him towards it.
"My mothers..." As they got closer and closer to the house Kathren walked slower, each step her entusiasim growing less and less.
The house looked worn and shaggy, with its wind wipped roof, sand baterd paint and dirty windows, it looked un-homely and deserted.
"Come on...dont you want to look around?" Taylor said quietly.
"Yeah okay..." Kathren said nodding, not taking her eyes off the house.
"Lets go inside..."Taylor grabbed her arm and held her back.
"Go inside? Like break in? We cant! What if it belongs to some one else?" Kathren shook her head.
"No way, im sure its not been sold, mum would never do that! See look!" She pointed to a sign hanging on the door.
" 'Peirce' Thats my mothers last name, they would have taken that down if some one else lived here!" She jogged ford and lifted the door matt, then triumpently held up a key.
"Same place she left it..." Kathren said, placing it in the lock. The door swung open and Kathren disapeared inside, closly followed by Taylor. Turning on the lights as she walked through Kathren felt more comfort in the familiour sarroundings, than she had in a long time.
" Hey look!" She called to Taylor as she picked up a photo albame, and sat down on a couch.
"What is it..?" Taylor asked as he came into the room and sat beside her.
"Our old photo albame, I havent seen this in so long..." She stopped and steared at a photo of a bautaful blond woman, holding a little child on her knee. When Taylor first saw it, he thought the woman was Kathren.
"Thats me and my mother..." She said finely.Taking the phograph out of the albame.
"Your right, she does look like you..." Taylor said, strocking her hair as he looked at her pained eyes.
" Do you want to go...?" He asked. She turned to him.
"No...I don't ever want to leave...but...well, can we stay here tonight? Will you stay with me...?" He looked at her and nodded.
"Yeah, ill stay with you..." She buried her head in his neck and hugged him.
"Thank you Tay...I dont know why, but I feel so safe around you... I feel like Iv known you all my life..." Her breath tingeled against his neck as he kissed her head.
" I feel like that too...like if I ever had to be away from you...even for a second, Id die..." For a while they diddn't move, untill Kathren stood up and took Tays hand.
"We can sleep in my old bed..." She told him as they walked up the stairs. In her room, Taylor climed into the bed first, then Kathren snuggeled into his arms.
They slept like that till the light flooded through the dirty windows the next day.
