Comments: Dear Dr. Tarek Said; Without any doubt, your site is the most
comprehensive archive on Egyptian sports on the net. I congratulate you.
Dr. Tarek, I feel that the results that you are depicting on your site
do not offer an empirical approach. I am Egyp Dr. Tarek, in the African
results tables you count both the finals and the semi finals reached twice.
In other words you have a column for number of finals reached and another
column for the number of semi-finals reached. You count the semi-finals
won as well as lost. In such a way that, you duplicate the numbers. I believe
that it would be more logical to count each item once. Furthermore, you
count the super cup and the afro asian cup as finals. According to UEFA,
the super cup games are not counted as a final because winners of the Champions
League and UEFA cup are automatically qualified to play that game. I understand
that the term final applies in case of a team playing several rounds to
reach a certain final. Therefore, as you are a scientist whose empirical
values guide his judgement, I believe that it is misleading to count Afro
Asian or super cups as finals, more specifically because they are just
honorary titles that do not have official recognition. For example, the
first Afro Asian cup won by zamalek against Furakawa from Japan was played
on the bais of one game only in Egypt. Furthermore, the CAF awarded one
point to super cups and one to Afro-Asian cups. It was not feasable to
count those ceremonial trophies as true competitions worth 4 points. This
is indicative of the nature of these trophies. This particular point received
a huge debate from the part of zamalek fans who argued that zamalek should
be crowned African Team of the century, however, we neglected in our arguments
that in Europe, Real Madrid won 12 continental Trophies (7 Champions Leagues,
2 UEFA cups, 3 World Cup in Tokyo), while AC Milan of Italy won 14 trophies
(5 Champion Leagues, 2 Cup Winner Cups, 4 Super Cups, 3 World Cups in Tokyo),
yet Real Madrid was crowned Europe's club of the century based on official
trophies only. I know that you are zamalkawee and therefore, you wish to
see zamalek at the top of every table, however, I am sure that this can
only be achieved through proper progress from the part of zamalek and not
by misinterpretation of results. Dr Tarek, I hope that the above comments
are viwed in a spirit of constructive criticism. I wish you all the best
in your efforts to create the most comprehensive site. I also hope that
my comments would be taken into consideration, especially that your website
is a very good source of information on Egyptian sports and therefore should

I am not doing any rankings of my own and it has nothing to do with Zamalek. If you seen my Egyptian club honours section you will find that I counted all Arab championships for Ahly although the Arab federation itself is not an official federation and is not recognized by FIFA. Arab games are not counted as official. As for Semifinals and finals all similar results on any soccer site on the net count them that way , All tennis statistics count them that way because the ratio between Finals reached to semifinals reached is important and indicative of team indurance and consistency. As for the super cup , CAF already counted them in the Ranking for Club of century , and If you follow CNN soccer top ten clubs, Intercontinental cup are counted .
