Games of The New Emerging Forces (GANEFO) in Indonesia (November 1963) (Champion)

Egypt participated with Second Team
GANEFO is The Games of the New Emerging Forces which were the games organized by Indonesia in late 1963 as counteract to the Olympic Games.

The game was established for the athletes of the emerging nations, GANEFO clearly states in its constitution that politics and sport were knotted and this is against the dogma of the International Olympic Committee. So, politics must be separated from sports. The IOC ordered that the athletes joining GANEFO would be disqualified from participating in the Olympic Games.

In November 10th  1963, the first edition of GANEFO was held in Jakarta, Indonesia where in total number of more than 2,000 athletes participated from approximately 51 nations in Africa, Asia, Europe and Latin America such as Afghanistan, Albania, Algeria, Argentina, Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Burma, Cambodia, Ceylon, Cuba, Czechoslovakia, Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Dominican Republic, Finland, France, German Democratic Republic, Guinea, Hungary, Indonesia, Iraq, Italy, Japan, Laos, Lebanon, Mexico, Mongolia, Morocco, the Netherlands, Nigeria, Pakistan, Palestine, People's Republic of China, the Philippines, Poland, Republic of Mali, Rumania, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Somali Republic, USSR, North Vietnam, the United Arab Republic (Egypt), Uruguay, etc.

The second edition of GANEFO was supposed to be took place in Cairo, Egypt in 1967, but this was canceled as a result of political contemplations. The second edition of GANEFO was limited to Asia, except Guinea because of its participation in Pyongyang, North Korea in August 1st to11th, 1965. Therefore, the second competition in Phnom Penh, Cambodia in November 25th to December 6th, 1966 was then called the 'First Asian GANEFO'. The second Asian GANEFO was intended to be held in North Korea in 1970. But unfortunately, the second Asian GANEFO never happened until now.
