Phantom
Planet Tribute
I
heard about Phantom Planet on the Athenaeum mailing list and I decided
to check into the band that was being talked about so much. I went
to their homepage to listen to some clips of their material. The
first song I listened to was "So I fall again" and from that moment on
I was hooked on this band.
When I bought the album I was amazed at how much they had the same thoughts
as I did. It was fantasic to know that others were feeling or have
felt the same way as I do. Living in a small town as I do it's hard
to find people who can relate to. There are a few in my town and
aroud my area, those are the people that I hold close to me.
Listening to more of Phantom Planets music I became so enthralled into
what they were saying and the rhythm and freshness of the music they created.
The song "Sleep Machine" really made me do a double-take because I'm always
talking about "The Sleep Machine" when I am tired.
One thing that bothered me was the mere fact that hardly anyone has heard
of them which brings me to my point. The music scene is turned away
from what is quality music and what is crap. Bands like Korn, Limp
Bizkit and the rest of those bands(You all know who they are.) are the
bands I consider crap, I don't know how else I could put it but I'm trying
to stay constructive now. The quality music is what people look over
these days I guess it takes someone who loves music to look at the quality
of the music they're listening to. The bands I consider quality music
are Phantom Planet, Weezer, Athenaeum, Toad the Wet Sprocket(Rest in Peace
but get back together please.), Third Eye Blind and the other unrecognized
music that should be recognized.
Disclaimer-- I don't care if you like the "Korn Generation" stuff.
Go ahead and do your own thing. I'm going to do my own thing and
I'll enjoy listening to my music. I may have went off track on this
Tribute page but it is a tribute because of Phantom Planet and the other
unrecognized bands that are QUALITY music.
