September’s Focus: |
|
A folder for occasional teachers that includes any special instructions about students needs, medical information, an up-to-date seating plan, my behavioural expectations and consequences, and emergency lesson plans.
A Superstar Wall that features exemplary work completed by all the students. )
Regularly held group meetings facilitated by the teacher at the beginning of the year, but taken over by the students as they become familiar with the format and aims. |
|
I feel great because I tried my hardest and did my best today! |
|
In our classroom, you’ll see:
A classroom contract, crafted during the first days of school; displayed where we can reference and reinforce it often.
Definitions of equity and fairness and the difference between the two, placed near our classroom contract.
Daily schedule with the day’s plans to give students a sense of control, including visuals.
A carefully thought out seating plan that balances the needs of all students.
Anchor activities that allow students to work independently while the teacher works with a smaller group.
Activities that remediate or enrich content so that students at any stage can be challenged.
