September’s Focus:

In grade 4, we’re working really hard to become better readers and writers.

This is what you’ll see in our classroom:

Clipboards, camp chairs, pillows, rugs, that allows students to find an optimal environment in which to work.

Reading buddies, flexible groupings, mixed-ability and homogenous, that allow for mentoring and peer assisted learning opportunities.

Individual book boxes to hold reading response work, guided reading story maps, books for independent reading, etc.

Choice of reading response activities in pocket charts, based on reading comprehension strategies, allows for differentiated product.

Listening station with audio and printed books where students can read along.
