Welcome to Ms. Jesseau’s Grade 4 Class

When we make good choices, we all achieve success.

To Parents:

Consistency is best for the children. The most effective way of dealing with problems is by communicating and reinforcing similar messages at home and in school.

Parents, if you see a warning ticket in your child’s agenda, please ask specifically what it was given for.  Having the child reflect on his/her behaviour and how it might have been disruptive to others is key to changing the behaviour.

Also, encourage your child to look at the situation through the other person’s eyes. Empathy-building will be a core strategy of our character education program this year. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call me. I can be reached by email or through the school office.

Our classroom rules:

Be here and ready to work at 8am; that means our backpacks are hung up, our homework is done, our pencils are sharpened, and our brains are switched on.

Respect the people and things in our classroom and beyond; respect yourself, your teachers, your classmates, our class pets, materials, and the differing needs of others. If you want to borrow something that is not yours - please ask, if you have something to spare - please share !

Listen carefully for instructions and follow them the first time they are given.

Always act in a way that helps others be successful, keep your voice low, keep your hands and feet to yourself, keep your words positive, and keep looking for ways to make someone else’s day better.

Be the best you that you can be, even (or especially) when no one is watching.

The students and I have been talking a lot about my expectations of them this year and we have brainstormed some rules that we will all need to follow so that everyone has a safe and successful year in grade 4.

I would like to share with you what the students themselves have come up with. I am really proud of the children. They have shown remarkable insight into what is needed to make our classroom a cooperative and caring place for all individuals. The children worked hard to craft these rules and we have all promised that we will work really hard to follow them. I am excited to get to work and to see these ideas in action.
