SPELLS DICTIONARY-I
This hex is capable of tripping, freezing, binding, knocking back and generally impeding the target's progress towards the caster. Used in GoF when Harry is practicing for the third task. Stronger uses of this spell seem capable of blowing targets away. This spell is also used in GoF when he sees a spider in the third task of the triwizard tournament and the spider temporarily can't move. It is also used in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince when Harry is fighting the Death eaters.
Known as the Impervius Charm, this spell makes something repel (literally, become impervious to) water. It's used by Hermione in PoA on Harry's glasses and also by the Gryffindor Quidditch team in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
Ties someone or something up with ropes. Seen in the Harry Potter Trading Card Game. The Incarcerous incantation is first heard in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, but the same spell may have been used non-verbally to tie up Peter Pettigrew in PoA. It may also have been used by Quirrel near the end of TPS, but he didn't use a wand and merely "snapped his fingers".
Produces fire. Used in GoF by Arthur Weasley to create a fire for Floo powder. In Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince this spell is used several times in battle.
In the Philosopher's stone video game, this spell is used to temporarily stun dangerous plants.
