Matt Widick Character Analysis Raoul is a 25 year old man who is a stage 1-3 thinker. He is only worried about himself and what others think of him. But he will not go out of his way to help someone else. He always bases his decisions on if he would benefit from the choice and how much trouble he would get in if not. He uses many different defense mechanisms to justify his actions. For example when we play poker at his house he often loses stating that he couldn’t play anyways because he has to walk around and check how the other tables are doing. This is an example of rationalization. We also often have madden tournaments. If he ever gets angry because of losing or a play that goes against him he punches a wall or damages something using displacement. The other defense mechanism he uses often is projection. Often if arguing with someone on how to do something or a way to do something he will do it his way. If this ends up going wrong he simply states it was the other person’s idea and that they should have used his idea claiming the other persons idea was his. He is recently coming out of the identity c role confusion stage. He has found what he wants to do in life and who he is. He is going to soon propose to his wife thus entering intimacy VS isolation.
