while true it is all men in vain assay
to find some meaning on this mortal coil,
to argue what we must and what we may,
distilling truth by setting life aboil,
philosophers who thus debate and wrangle
and tie themselves in syllogistic knots
still cannot hope to straigthen out that tangle
of multifarious strands, Man's deeds and thoughts.
what though the fruitless search may last forever
and enlightenment remain a banked coal?
a quest is still a quest though it may never
attain the end of its avowed goal.
let's play the skeptic, deconstruct suggestion--
what would our lives be if we did not question?
