Kagnew Hailesellasse

Bachelor of Science Degree (Addis Ababa University)

Masters of Science Degree (Wageningen University)

Accepted for Doctoral Degree (Calgary University)

Mr. Kagnew is receiver of scholarships from Addis Ababa University, the government of Israel, the government of Holland and the government of Canada.

Kagnew was raised in a small village in North Shewa, Amhara Regional State (Ethiopia). Being hard working and lucky, Kagnew acquired a broader exposure in biology and chemistry.  Have you ever visited historical sites in Ethiopia? What about the holly land, Israel? I was also in Europe. Currently I am located in Ontario Ottawa. Soon I will move to the city of Calgary. Ask me! I can happily share you my little experiences from all these places.

I, 28, single strongly believes in hard work and its results!

Scientific interest

I started my career as a Biologist.  I have entertained ample of ecological visits in different bioregions of Ethiopia. My present research interest is in novel enzymes applicable in microbial biotechnology. Specifically my interest is in anaerobic metabolic pathways such as Halorespiration and the sulfate reduction pathway. Model organisms: Desulfitobacterium hafninense. Soon I will switch to Desulfovibiro vulgaris.
