Jurong Bird Park

Singapore has the largest bird park in Southeast Asia. It holds about 8000 birds of 600 species from all over the world. There are various highlights like the largest collection of Southeast Asian Hornbills and South American Toucans. There is also the world’s second largest penguin exhibit. The daily shows like breakfast with the Birds is from 9am to11am, birds of prey, Penguin Feeding Time and the All Stars Bird show. You will need at least half a day to visit the main attractions in the bird park.

Zoological Gardens

Singapore’s famous ‘open’ zoo, with its lush jungle setting, is a retreat for both the visitors and animals. In a scenic enclosure, more than 2000 animals are housed there with rock walls and streams replacing the usual metal cages. Some of the attractions are the Children’s World, a place for children to interact with animals and has excellent playgrounds, Primate Kingdom, the gallery of sea lions and penguins and the Polar bear exhibit which is air conditioned. Throughout the day feeding shows take place.

There are also favourites like the primates, reptiles, elephants and sea lions. The Singapore Zoo not only has many endangered species, it also has the largest colony of orang utans. Visitors can have their breakfast and lunch with the orang utans if they book in advance through their hotel.

The Night Safari

The Night Safari is located adjacent to the Singapore Zoo. It happens to be the first wildlife park in the world, which can be viewed at night. The darkness at the Night Safari holds visitors in the eye. There are many surprises like a one-horned rhinoceros and the howls of a pack of striped hyenas to amaze the visitors. There are 1200 animals of more than 100 exotic species to watch out for. Visitors can choose to move about on their own along the walking trail or relax in the tram. But no matter which one they choose, they will still find The Night Safari a wild adventure that cannot be missed

Crocodile Paradise

This paradise is adjacent to the Jurong Bird Park. In a landscaped setting, Jurong Crocodile Paradise contains more than 2500 crocodiles. There is an underwater viewing area and a breeding enclosure. The exciting and thrilling crocodile shows, which features crocodile wrestling, are at times like 10.45am, 11.45am, 2pm, 3pm and 4pm.

Chinatown

Chinatown means ‘Bullock carts’ water’ when translated in Chinese. Chinatown is a shoppers’ paradise because of the great prices. Chinatown is a place for any tourist. It is also known for the wide variety of Chinese food it has to offer.

Little India

Little India is located in Serangoon Road. It displays the rich culture of the Indian community. Shop houses which sell handicrafts, jewellery shops, restaurants which provide a variety of Indian delicacies, flower shops, clothes shops, spice shops and temples add attraction to this stretch of road.

Haw Par Villa

First built in 1937, Haw Par Villa holds 25 clusters of the original statues and figurines which tells the intriguing stories of Chinese mythology, legends and Chinese values. Described by various visitors as "fascinating, delightful, bizarre and entertaining", Haw Par Villa is like no other place in the world. Dramatising Chinese legends and folklores, the colourful statues and figurines immortalise moral values and Chinese cultural heritage for generations to come.

Sentosa

Sentosa is an Island off Singapore. Visitors may get there by ferry, car or cable car. It is a place filled with entertainment for all ages. Its resort setting is most appealing. Visitors may choose to travel by monorail when moving from one attraction to another in Sentosa.

Botanic Gardens

The Singapore Botanic Gardens is widely spread over 52 hectares near to the city. The Botanic Gardens is a combination of a primary jungle and a manicured garden. It holds together a thousand plus species of plant life, with rare species included. There is a lake to add to the serenity of the garden. The lake is a home to birds like Kingfishers, Water Fowls and ducks. The outdoor concert is also another attraction to look out for.

Sungei Buloh Nature Park

It is Singapore’s first designated wetland nature reserve. This nature park is also a major stopover point for birds which migrate along the East Asian Flyway. Throughout the 87 hectares of the reserve, hides are made to provide excellent observation points for visitors.

Clarke Quay

Dining, shopping and entertainment can be found at Clarke Quay, Singapore’s only riverside festival village. Five blocks of buildings house 60 godowns and shophouses on the 23000 square- metre site. The buildings are restored to their original 19th century style. There are places like restaurants, wine bars, pubs, riverboat rides and play areas for children.
