There are nearly 840 million people who practice the Islam faith, which was founded by Muhammad. Islamism's believe that Muhammad is the last line of holy prophets preceded by Adam, Abraham, Moses, and Jesus. Their religious reference is referred to as the "Koran" and is read by all sects of the Islam faith. These sects include the Sunni, which divides into the Assassins, Druses, and Fatimids. They also refer to God as "Allah." Islam's believe in "Five Pillars" that will bring close to Allah. These five pillars include: Believing that Muhammad is God's prophet, not God himself. Praying five times a day; giving of alms; keeping of the fast of Ramadan during the 9th month of the Muslim Calendar; making an attempt of pilgrimage at least one time in your lifetime to Mecca.

About 307 million people practice Buddhism. Buddhism was founded by Siddhartha Guatama in South Nepal in the 6th and 5th centuries B.C. Religious devotee's, or monks, pray through meditation. Buddhist believes that through meditation and moral behavior, you can get to Nirvana. They also believe that you can repeat lifetimes that are good and bad depending on how you lived your life the pervious time (karma). The four noble truths that Buddhist believes are: existence is the realm of suffering and desire; the belief in the importance of one's self may cause suffering; achievement of Nirvana ends suffering; Nirvana is attained only meditation and following the path of righteousness in action, thought, and attitude.

There are approximatley 648 million followers of the Hindu religion. Hinduism is based on the two sacred scriptures, Veda and Upanishads. They recognize three significant figures of God; Brahms, the creator, Vishnu, the preserver, and Shiva, the destroyer. Their goals in life are to be released from repeated reincarnation through yoga, adherence of the Vedic Scriptures, and devotion to a personal guru.

Over 33% of the world practices the Christian faith. Christians believe in one God, and his teachings in the bible, and that his only son is Jesus Christ. There are many different sects of the Christian religion. Pentecostals, Evangelicals, Protesants, and Roman Catholics are just some of the many different Christian sects out there. All of them believe in recognizing the three spirits, God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. Catholics are the only Christian group that prays to Mary, the Mother of Jesus. Although over the years the Christian rates are dropping, it is still the largest group of faith worshipers.

About 5 million people practice te Baha'i Faith. It was founded by Mirz a Husagn'AliNun' (Baha'u'llah) after he was exiled from Baghdad. After 1944, when Al-bab founded Babism, the Baha'i Faith grew rapidly.
