Everglade Place

The Best teacher of the week is This is about chapter 5 in The Everglades River Of Grass In 1547 French pirates captured nine ships with treasures in Honduras. After that, Spain’s dream of immunity stopped right there. The pirates would go between the Caribbean except south between the volcanic mountains. They were going to northern South America or Central America. They could not go back out to sea the way that they had come, so they had to go above Cuba and close to the Florida Keys to get back out to sea. The ships of Columbus were open caravels. They were the most powerful fighting ship of its time. The pirates would also use them too. Some of the people and pirates from Mexico and Havana Cuba sailed up to Florida. They would practice their religion there. They did not know that Florida’s hurricane season was from July to December. The people would usually set sail in September. When they were sailing to Florida the hurricanes would take their ship out and the treasure from the ship would float to Florida in their crates and barrels intact. The Indians would open up the crates and barrels and play with the treasures inside. Very few people survived the hurricanes and if they did the Indians would feed them and protect them, but they would be sacrificed later that year. Not many people or pirates were able to live there because the Indians would sacrifice them. If the Indians did not , the wild life in the Everglades would. The pirates and the people would get cut from blades of grass and get swarmed by mosquitoes. Occasionally someone would get eaten by an alligator. The people who were able to survive left and did not come back for a very long time. The Indians who lived there were used to the conditions in the Everglades.
