WHAT IS THE LOONG KONG YOUTH GROUP?      The LKYG is a youth oriented group that is part of the Loong Kong Tien Yee Association Of San Francisco, located at 924 Grant Avenue, 4th floor, San Francisco, CA  94108.

The Youth Group consists of students and young professionals with the surnames of Lew, Quan, Jung, and Chew (including variations of the spellings of the surnames, such as Liu, Kwan, Cheung, Chiu, etc.).  (Check the Chinese characters toward the top of this page for surname identification.)   Free membership to those who qualify! .  All members speak a combination of Chinese Cantonese, Mandarin and English.   Friends of YG members without the four surnames are welcome to participate in most events, but won't be subsidized, nor have voting or membership privileges in the group.

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE YOUTH GROUP?            The Youth Group was originally formed in 1981 to cater to the needs and activities of the offspring of the elders of the Association and to perpetuate their heritage through successive generations of new youthful members.   Have fun, meet new friends, join fun activities, and learn about your Chinese cultural heritage!

WHAT IS THE  CULTURAL HERITAGE OF LOONG KONG?             The Loong Kong Association is a four-family association of surnames of Lew, Quan, Jung, and Chew. It was based on the formation of brotherhood by four noble warriors and patriots Lew Pei, Kuan Yu, Jung Fei, and Chew Yun near the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty (184 AD) and the Three Kingdom period (220-280 AD). They vowed to dedicate their lives together to save the country from uprising rebels and against corrupted warlords. It was the spirit of brotherhood and loyalty, righteousness, humanity, and courage the four heroic ancestors possessed, that the Association promotes and the purpose for its existence.

WHAT WILL I GAIN BY JOINING THE YOUTH GROUP?             Members make new friends and also learn more about their Chinese heritage and history. They can suggest and vote on activites and learn to prepare for potential leadership in the Loong Kong association, as well as participate in improving the Chinese community. Many members' lives are enriched personally and culturally and result in forming lifelong friendships.
