Commercial Spot Just in Time for
Big Game?
- [ Nick @ 08:55 AM .
PST . Movie:
PoA ]
Leaky
has this:
Reports abound that a new PoA commercial aired
during Emma Watson and Rupert Grint's appearance
on Nickelodeon Takes Over the Supber Bowl, and
according to our readers it included Harry getting
slammed into the window of the Knight Bus, which
has a shrunken head (I learned on the set that
the head was a touch from Cuaron, and that it
comments funnily on Ernie's less-than-stellar
driving skills) and there's a housekeeping lady
of some sort in the dormitory. Transcript of the
appearance soon, screencaps appreciated, and smart
viewers should keep an eye on the Super Bowl for
a replay!

- [ Jasen @ 03:06
PM . PST . iHP

Thanks to reader Andra for letting us know that
HarryFive.tk has
made a clone of this one (and a rather bad one
at that). Not only is this a blatant copy, it's
also a violation of copyright laws.

Director Newell to Make 'One' GoF
- [ Nick @ 01:32 PM .
PST . Movie:
GoF ]
Contrary to popular belief and theory, the fourth
installment of HP on the big screen will not be a two-part movie.
Empire has this:
Not so, insists the director. Allaying fears
that he'll turn out a two-act Potter, Newell told
Empire that it's one film all the way. "As far
as I'm concerned it's absolutely possible to do
it in one. I think it would be slightly embarrassing
to do it in two."

Nancy Stouffer, a woman claiming Harry Potter
was a rip of of her own work, lost in court, and
had to pay some hefty fees. Entertainment Law
Digest reports:
A federal appeals court has upheld a rare
$50,000 judicial sanction against a woman who
claimed that the Harry Potter books copied her
work. In addition, the appeals court upheld the
dismissal of her claims and affirmed the trial
court order that she pay her opponents’ attorneys
fees.
US District Judge Allen G. Schwartz of the Southern
District of New York had found that there was
“clear evidence” that Nancy Stouffer had committed
fraud in presenting her evidence of copyright
infringement.

Potter's
Monopoly on Australia
- [ Nick @ 06:49 PM .
PST . Books
]
From the looks of the sales, the latest HP book,
Order of the Phoenix, has absolutely controlled
Australia's top seller list. The Age has this
story:
Harry Potter's spell over the Australian reading
public continued last year when the fifth instalment
of the young wizard's adventures topped the bestseller
lists, outstripping its nearest rival by almost
650,000 copies.
J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter and the Order of
the Phoenix sold 787,720 copies in the year to
December 27, according to figures released yesterday
by Neilsen BookScan Australia, which surveys more
than 1000 booksellers around the country. The
value of Order of the Phoenix sales was $22.95
million, more than the combined value of the other
nine titles. It had an average price of $29.13,
discounted from its $45 recommended price.

Gambon
Worried About PoA?
- [ Nick @ 06:46 PM .
PST . Movie:
PoA ]
Contact
Music has this:
And, rather than reading the script for the
ALFONSO CURAN-directed third film HARRY POTTER
AND THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN, Gambon opted to familiarise
himself with the role using the STEPHEN FRY-narrated
tapes - but his method has left him worried about
his performance.
He explains, "I listened to tapes of the Prisoner
of Azkaban while driving. I found it a very useful
way of learning my part. It was narrated by Stephen
Fry, who is very good, but my only concern was
that I might end up doing the part with his voice,
which would not be quite right!"

Casting
Call: Viktor Krum
- [ Nick @ 01:45 PM .
PST . Movie:
GoF ]
The actor search for Viktor Krum has been announced!
Ananova
has this:
Bulgarians bid for Potter role
Thousands of teenagers are bidding for a lead
role in the fourth Harry Potter film after producers
revealed they want a real Bulgarian to play the
part of Victor Krum.
In the book, Krum is the 17-year-old captain
of the Bulgarian Quidditch team and also plays
the love interest for Harry Potter's school friend
Hermione Grainger.
The character has bushy eyebrows, a crooked nose
and walks with a slouch. But the less than flattering
appearance of the character has not deterred thousand
of Bulgarian teenagers from applying for the auditions.
The first casting will take place in the capital
Sofia later this week. Other castings are set
to take place around the country with the best
choices then flown to London to meet the producers
where the final selection will be made.

Goblet
of Fire Eye Candy
- [ Nick @ 12:50 PM .
PST . Movie:
GoF ]
It's apparent that with the rumors of the fourth
installment of the Potter series being the most
expensive movie ever, it must have dazzling eye
candy. The Gloucestershire
Echo has the latest buzz:
Harry Potter magic is being created in Winchcombe.
Optical firm Graham Coates (UK) Ltd in Gretton
Road has been asked to help with Harry Potter
and the Goblet of Fire's special effects. Like
most things surrounding the Harry Potter phenomenon,
the precise details are being kept top secret.
"Some of the equipment we make is very specialist
and we really can't give any details away," said
owner Graham Coates.
The film's producers contacted Mr Coates months
ago with the order, worth a "significant" sum.
The first part was shipped off last week. More
will be sent this week and next.
