I. The
spiritual man and the Law
A. Romans 7:1-6
B. His relationship to the Law
1. He is as a widow, being freed
from her husband.
2. He is as a dead man, being freed from
his lust.
C. His relationship to the Saviour
1. He is now raised by Christ.
2. He is now married to Christ.
3. He is now able to produce
fruit unto God thru Christ.
C. Thus: The spiritual man is
delivered from the Law.
II. The
natural man and the Law
A. Romans 7:7-13
B. The Law and God
1. The Law is holy
a. Because it comes from
God.
b. It rightfully condemns
the sinner.
c. It prepares men for Christ.
2. Scripture
a. Gal 3:24
b. Rom 7:12
C. The Law and sin
1. Sin uses the Law to slay
the sinner.
2. Romans 7:9-11
D. Thus: The natural man is doomed
by the Law.
III. The
carnal man and the Law
A. Romans 7:14-25
B. Any attempt to keep
the Law will lead to
carnality.
C. No attempt to keep the
Law can lead to
spirituality. This is
true in spite of any
inner desire and delight.
D. All attempts to keep the
Law must be abandoned.
E. Thus: The carnal man is
defeated by the Law.
