The Righteousness of God and Israel's Rejection at the Present

 

                            Romans 10

 

1. The source of God's righteousness

 

   a. Romans 10:4-5

 

   b. "For Christ is the end of the Law for

       righteousness to everyone that believeth"

       - Rom 10:4

 

2. The availability of God's righteousness

 

   a. Romans 10:6-8

 

   b. "The Word is near thee, even in thy mouth,

       and in thine heart." - Rom 10:8

 

   c. This is true because of two historical

      events:

 

      (1) The incarnation of Christ - Rom 10:6

 

      (2) The resurrection of Christ - Rom 10:7

 

3. The method of God's righteousness

 

   a. Romans 10:9-10

 

   b. "Confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus

       Christ, and believe in thine heart

       that God hath raised Him from the dead."

       - Rom 10:9

 

   c. Thus: Heart possession of Christ leads

            to mouth confession of Christ! -

            The fruit proves the root!

 

4. The scope of God's righteousness

 

   a. Romans 10:11-13

 

   b. "For whosoever shall call upon the name

       of the Lord shall be saved."

 

5. The presentation of God's righteousness

 

   a. Romans 10:14-15

 

   b. Three reasons that God sends preachers:

 

      (1) A sinner must call upon the name

          of the Lord to be saved

 

      (2) He must believe in order to call

 

      (3) He must hear in order to believe

 

6. The rejection of God's righteousness

   b. Israel's rejection was inexcusable

 

      (1) Romans 10:18

 

      (2) Ps 19:4

 

   c. Israel's rejection was predicted
