1. The believer has a new position.

 

   a. Rom 8:1-4

 

   b. He is in Christ

 

2. The believer has a new guest.

 

   a. Rom 8:5-13 (vs 9-10)

 

   b. He is indwelled by the Spirit

 

3. The believer has a new adoption

 

   a. Rom 8:14-17

 

   b. He is adopted by the Father

 

   c. Making him a son of God (vs 14)

 

   d. Making him a joint heir with Christ (vs 17)

 

4. The believer has a new goal

 

   a. Rom 8:29-39

 

   b. The nature of this goal

 

      (1) "To be conformed to the image of

           His Son"

 

      (2) Rom 8:29

 

   c. The steps leading to this goal

 

      (1) Rom 8:29-30

 

      (2) Steps

 

         (a) Foreknow

 

         (b) Predestinate

 

         (c) Called

 

         (d) Justified

 

         (e) Glorified

 

   d. The absolute certainty of this goal

 

       (1) Rom 8:31-39

 

       (2) Question: "What shall separate us from

                      the love of Christ?"

 

       (3) Answer: Nothing! This includes

 

          (a) Tribulation

 

          (b) Distress

 

          (c) Persecution

 

          (d) Famine

 

          (e) Nakedness

 

          (f) Peril

 

          (g) Sword

 

          (h) Death 

 

          (i) Life

 

          (j) Angels

 

          (k) Principalities

 

          (l) Things present

 

          (m) Things to come

 

          (n) Powers

 

          (o) Height

 

          (p) Depth

 

          (q) Any other created thing

 

      (4) Reason:

 

         (a) "Christ...died...is risen again

              who is even at the right hand

              of God, who also maketh intercessions

              for us."

5. The believer has a new expectation.

 

   a. Rom 8:18-25

 

   b. The nature of this hope.

 

      (1) The full and final redemption

          of all things.

 

      (2) This includes:

 

         (a) The Christian himself -

             Rom 8:18,23-25

 

         (b) The creation itself - Rom 8:19-22

 

6. The believer has a new prayer helper.

 

   a. Rom 8:26-27

 

   b. The necessity for this new help

 

      (1) "For we know not what we should

           pray for as we ought..."

 

      (2) Rom 8:26

 

   c. The intensity of this new help

 

      (1) "With groanings which cannot be

           uttered."

 

      (2) Rom 8:26

 

7. The believer has a new knowledge - Rom 8:28
