1. Must be tested and proven (church testamony must be good)

2. Must be blameless (testamony outside church must be good)

3. Must have a godly wife

4. Must be the head of his family

5. Must be grave (held in high respect)

6. Must not be doubletongue (two-faced, a talebearer)

7. Must not be given over to wine

8. Must not be greedy of money

9. Must hold forth the mystery of the faith (that is, to know, explain, and defend the Word of God)

10. Must maintain a pure conscience
