My name is Charity I am located in Clarksville,Tn but will travel to surrounding areas to teach.
My background/experience: I have been riding for almost eight years now and have been teaching for about two. I have ridden for several years with Ed Rothkranz (Former Canadian Dressage Olympian), with Pam Bullington (Grand Prix rider and long time student of Ed's) and with a succesful prelim event rider (also a long time student of Ed's). When I was a teenager I would spend my summers as a working student, doing alot of barn duties and riding alot. Once I got out of highschool I lived with my trainer for over a year and rode intensly as well as worked another job. I have ridden many many different horses and broke several. I have also shown a bit on my own and sale horses. I am pretty much known for riding anything and everything thrown at me! I enjoy working with all differnt horses from ponies, to thoroughbreds, to warmbloods.
What I teach: I teach classical dressage. Using soft hands and making the horse move forward are the general beginnings I teach, asking the horse to accept the bit willingly and stretching into the bit, not being forced to drop their head by tugging and pulling on the reins. One rule of thumb I go by is that dressage exercises are good for any horse but they can be done well or badly. When dressage exercises are done correctly they are benefical to the horse but when done improperly the can do more damage than good. Want to know more about Dressage? Go here: Dressage
I also teach jumping. Jumping is considerably more dangerous then just doing flatwork, the rider and horse must be brave and confident in their riding together. Dressage is an important basis for jumping and is used throughout jumping. Want to know more about Jumping? Go here Jumping
