Daniel Wakelin and Ann Elizabeth Smith

Not a great deal is known about this family at the moment as they do not seem to appear on the 1901 census.

What is known so far is that Daniel was born at Little Packington in 1856, and was the eldest child of Benjamin and Harriet Wakelin. He married an Ann Elizabeth Smith on the 20th June 1882 and the marriage certificates show that a Frederick Smith married a Sarah Lawrence on the same day. Obviously a double wedding, but not much hope is held of examining the Smith ancestry at this stage given that the fathers name is a plain John Smith.

There was a Lizzie Louisa born in 1883 possibly a child of Daniel and Ann.

The 1881 census shows Daniel as living in lodgings at 270 Summer Lane, Birmingham where he is shown as working as a butcher. Quite a change from his occupation being shown as a gardener on the marriage certificate the following year. Allowing for the possibility of deterioration of documents and also the possibility of transcribing errors it seems that further research is necessary in order to build up a coherent picture of this family's life.
