MISSOURI

Named after Missouri Indian tribe whose name means "town of the large canoes", Missouri is home to over 5,595,000 persons. The captial city is Jefferson City, and the state itself has an area of over 69,000 square miles. "The Show Me State" has a variety of topographical features including mountains, rivers, plains, swamps, and rolling hills.


ARIZONA

Home state of Tucson, Taylor's Ultimate settling spot in the novel, Arizona is mostly deserst and rocky clay mountains. It is a state deserving a topographical picture this large, mostly because of its importance in the novel. The Air is dry and it is warm most of the year. The capital city is Pheonix and the state encompasses over 114,000 square miles of land. The population of the "Grand Canyon State" is just over 5 million.
