This is just some basic info and a few tidbits of information about the states that Taylor passed through on her way to Tucson, Arizona. For additional information click the links for the official web pages. For a step by step journey visit RoadTrip.
KENTUCKY
The blue grass state, Kentucky, was admitted to the union on June 1, 1772. The Capitol City is Frankfort and it has a total land area of over 40,000 square miles. Kentucky is home to over 4 million people. Taylor is from a fictional place in this state called Pittman County.
ILLINOIS
Illinois, which gets its name from the Algonquin Indian word for "warriors", became a state on December 3, 1818. Springfield, the possible home of the "Simpsons" is its capital city. The state has an overall area of close to 58,000 square miles and is home to over 12,400,000 people who call it the "Prairie State."
OKLAHOMA
OKLAHOMA! Loosely known as the state where the wind comes sweeping down the plains, it is better known as the "Sooner State". Oklahoma has a total area of close to 70,000 square miles but only a population of about 3.4 million "Sooners". The capitol city is, oddly enough, Oklahoma City, and the state is well known for its cattle and wheat.
