TRIP TO OAKLAND, CALIFORNIA, USA

Q: Is Oakland near to San Francisco?

A: Yes, Oakland is near to San Francisco. Oakland and San Francisco are connected by the Bay Bridge. Oakland is also crowded city like San Francisco. It has many offices, residentials, and buildings.

Q: Do you go to Oakland Area Often?

A: Not always because right now, I am so busy in my job. If I go to Reno, NV, Fairfield, CA, Pittsburg, CA, and so on, I pass the Oakland Area thru Highway 80, Highway 880, and Highway 680.

Q: When is your first time to visit Oakland Area?

A: I visited Oakland Area last April 16, 2002 with my friend Ms. Marie Banagan who is a resident of the said area. She did a tour for me in Oakland Area when we have both extra time.

Q: We heard that Oakland Area is also traffic, isn't it?

A: Yes, Oakland Area is also traffic especially during rush hours. Highway 80 is the most traffic because Bay Bridge is connected to San Francisco and Oakland. Bay Bridge is also a narrow bridge and the speed limit passing to the Bay Bridge is only 55 miles per hour.

Q: How long do you get to Oakland Area from your place in Pacifica, CA?

A: About 45 minutes to one hour if you are driving. You will pass Highway 1, Highway 280, Highway 101, Bay Bridge, and finally Highway 80 if you are driving from Pacifica, CA. You can also get to Oakland, CA by taking public transportations like Bart Train, Samtrans, San Francisco Muni Bus, and AC Transit.

Q: Is there an airport in Oakland, CA?

A: Yes, they have an airport in Oakland, which is Oakland International Airport. It is a great advantage to have an airport in Oakland Area because you don't have to go to San Francisco International Airport and going to San Francisco International Airport will take your time by traffic and long drive. In the eastern Bay Area, they prefer to go to Oakland International Airport. It is easy to go to Oakland International Airport because there is a shuttle bus going to the airport from Oakland Bart Station.

Q: One day, you file a vacation leave to your office to attend the seminar here in Oakland, what is this seminar about and who are the guest speakers and sponsor?

A: Well, I attended the seminar last May 10, 2002 about "Implementing Cost-Effective Environmental Management System" sponsored by California State University Hayward at Professional Development and Conference Center, 1000 Broadway Boulevard, Suite 109, Oakland, California 94607. My former co-faculty members at De La Salle University, Manila, Philippines are Dr, Leonila C. Abella, Department Chairman of Chemical Engineering Department and Mr. Efren G. dela Cruz, Vice-Dean of College of Engineering. They are the guest speakers from Philippines who are invited by California State University Hayward courtesy of Dr. Ricardo Singson. I attended the seminar not only want to see my former co-faculty members but I want also to learn about the topic of the seminar.

Q: The other day, you went to Castro Valley, CA, isn't it?

A: Yes, I went to Castro Valley, CA with Dr. Leonila C. Abella and Mr. Efren G. dela Cruz, my co-faculty members in De La Salle University, Manila, Philippines to visit Dr. Rricardo Singson of California State University Hayward in their residence. They invited me because Dr. Leonila C. Abella and Mr. Efren G. dela Cruz will leave and they should go back to the Philippines immediately because the classes in De La Salle University will start in the last week of May 2002. We went to Dr. Ricardo Singson's house last May 18, 2002 and we had a dinner.
