Robert Archibald was
Illinois' primary low-post scorer and led the Big Ten in field goal percentage
(.659 percent). The native of Paisley, Scotland averaged 10.6 ppg on the season
and was Illinois_ fourth-leading scorer in Big Ten play at 10.9 ppg. He was
second on the team in rebounding at 5.5 rpg, which ranked 14th in the Big Ten.
As a
senior, Archibald scored in double figures 18 times and led Illinois in scoring
five times.He
led Illinois in rebounding 12 times. As a result, Archibald was selected third
team All-Big Ten by league coaches and honorable mention All-Big Ten by the
media. He tied his career-high with 25 points and made it a double-double with
10 boards against Penn State, making 11-12 (.917) field goals for the
second-best shooting day in Illinois history. Averaged 13.5 points during the
Big Ten Tournament and scored 11 points on 4-of-5 shooting in NCAA Tournament
second-round victory over Creighton.Also
led Illinois with double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds in Sweet 16 loss to
