Racing to Help - The Championship Challenge

The recent outpouring of support for the victims of the Tsunami in Asia, while amazing to behold, has left those in need here at home somewhat overlooked. In response, a local motorcycle road-racing team, Team Tromma Racing, is raising money for the Canadian Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund to aid in their relief efforts right here in Ontario. We are asking for pledges of support towards our efforts to help those whose lives have been touched by disaster.

Our plan is to ask interested companies and individuals to pledge money against our race for the Amateur 125GP Championship in the local R.A.C.E. series, running at Shannonville Motorsports Park near Belleville, ON. We are seeking supporters willing to pledge some amount of money – say, $1.00 – for every Championship Point earned at scheduled races this season. Cautious (or optimistic!) supporters may wish to set a maximum dollar figure. At the end of each race, we will contact supporters to let them know how we are doing, both in our fundraising efforts, and in the race for the #1 Plate. At the end of the season, we will be contacting supporters to collect pledges. Cash and cheques are gladly accepted, and the possibility of credit card payment is being investigated. Donations over $15 (fifteen dollars) will be eligible for Income Tax receipts.

We plan to achieve 40 points this season. We hope to raise $2000 - help us help those in need!

Update 28 Feb 05 - We've raised over $1100 in pledges so far, assuming I can reach 70 points! In addition to a few starving students who contributed what they could, 5 brave souls are supporting me as far as I can take it, with no cap to their pledge. Thank you!
