MuleFHL Team Goaltending Rankings!!

Overall, each team in the MuleFHL either has solid goaltending or is developing solid goaltenders.  Therefore, goals will likely be kept to a minimum this season once again, and it will be hot goaltenders winning games for their teams.  This year, Detroit stands at the top of the podium, after winning the MuleFHL cup under the leadership of the MuleFHL’s all-time greatest goaltender, Curtis Joseph.  Established goaltenders, Patrick Roy and Martin Brodeur lead their teams to rounding out the top three; however, even at the top of the ladder, there are a whole bunch of teams that are very capable of moving up a few spots in a very short period of time.

  1. Detroit Red Wings (83.75) –

-         Curtis Joseph(85), Chris Osgood(80)

-         With Vezina trophy winner Cujo and the return of Ozzie, the Wings have the best tandem in the league.

  1. Colorado Avalanche (83.50) –

-         Patrick Roy(86), David Aebischer(76)

-         Roy is the best in the game and they have the best Swiss player as a back-up.  The Avs are going to challenge with these 2 tenders.

  1. New Jersey Devils (83.50) –

-         Martin Brodeur(85), Tomas Vokoun(79)

-         With Marty Brodeur, any team can be good.  But with Tomas Vokoun, this team is going to be awesome.  This crop has a shot to take it all this year.

  1. Edmonton Oilers (82.75) –

-         Dominik Hasek(84), Matthieu Garon(79)

-         Hasek can and will make any team win some games.  With young Garon behind him, the Oil show they have something to prove.

  1. Philadelphia Flyers (82.75) –

-         Roman Cechmanek(84), Mike Dunham(79)

-         Two shaky goaltenders have been really good for Philly.  They continue to be at the top of the league.

  1. Montreal Canadiens (82.25) –

-         Jose Theodore(85), Jeff Hackett(74)

-         Theo is amazing.  That’s all I have to say.  And get rid of Hackett.

  1. Tampa Bay Lightning (82.00) –

-         Maxime Ouellet(84), Steve Shields(76)

-         Ouellet is young and destined to be great.  Shields is kinda so-s but as a back-up, he can do the job.

  1. Ottawa Senators (82.00) –

-         Nikolai Khabibulin(84), Jani Hurme(76)

-         Two Euros for goalies and they are both great.  Hurme will be the starter soon after Khabibulin leaves.

  1. Vancouver Canucks (82.00) –

-         Sean Burke(83), Dan Cloutier(79)

-         Burke is the most penalized goalie in the league and he may have the wildest back-up, but they both can stop some pucks when needed.

  1. Buffalo Sabres (81.75) –

-         Tommy Salo(83), Martin Biron(78)

-         Salo and Biron are a good 1-2 punch.  Both can play at given times and Salo can steal some games for Buff.

  1. Florida Panthers (81.25) –

-         Roberto Luongo(83), Trevor Kidd(76)

-         Luongo will be the best goalie in a few years, but he needs a better tutor than Trevor Kidd.

  1. Dallas Stars (81.00) –

-         Ed Belfour(82), Marty Turco(78)

-         With the aging Eddie Belfour, it might be time to let Turco step it up as the real Stars have.

  1. Boston Bruins (80.50) –

-         J-S. Giguere(82), Manny Legace(76)

-         If there isn’t a more unproven duo in the league.  This could be Giguere’s year though.

  1. St. Louis Blues (80.50) –

-         Brent Johnson(81), Fred Brathwaite(79)

-         Two closely rated goalies.  They can be almost rotated and switched every night and get the same result.

  1. Washington Capitals (80.25) –

-         Olaf Kolzig(83), Curtis Cruickshank(72)

-         Kolzig is one of the best…but they need to find a better back-up.  Who the fuck is Curtis Cruickshank?  Sounds like a porno name.

  1. San Jose Sharks (79.75) –

-         John Nabokov(81), Mikko Kiprusoff(76)

-         This is the best combo of young goalies.  Nabokov is on the rise and Kiprusoff is just getting started.

  1. New York Rangers (79.50) –

-         Patrick Lalime(80), Kevin Weekes(78)

-         After Lalime’s stellar year in Ottawa, look for the Rangers to make a bigger splash this year.  Kevin “Suitcase” Weekes is also solid when called upon.

  1. Toronto Maple Leafs (79.50) –

-         Brian Boucher(80), Jamie Storr(78)

-         Boucher is going to be a star, but Jamie Storr?  Like come on.  Sure he’s a 78, but why?

  1. Chicago Blackhawks (79.50) –

-         Jocelyn Thibault(80), Dan Blackburn(78)

-         With Blackburn being so good and young there might be a chance that Thibault can be traded for a better mentor for the kid.

  1. Pittsburgh Penguins (79.50) –

-         Johan Hedberg(80), J-S. Aubin(78)

-         Hedberg and Aubin are another 2 closely rated tenders.  However, t hey aren’t rated too high so you can’t really count on one of them to take you to the next level.

  1. Phoenix Coyotes (79.00) –

-         Byron Dafoe(81), Robert Esche(73)

-         Getting Dafoe was a good step, but having Esche as a back-up might be trouble.

  1. Columbus Blue Jackets (78.75) –

-         Ron Tugnutt(79), Mark Denis(78)

-         Tugnutt is like 45 now and needs to be surpassed.  Not sure if Denis can step up to the plate yet though.

  1. Calgary Flames (78.50) -

-         Roman Turek(81), Mike Vernon(71)

-         Get rid of Vernon now.  Turek can do it but if you need someone, Vernon will falter.

  1. Los Angeles Kings (78.25) -

-         Felix Potvin(80), Alexei Volkov(73)

-         Potvin is a good starter, but you need to pick up someone in the 75 or higher range to be safe.

  1. Carolina Hurricanes (78.25) –

-         Arturs Irbe(79), Robb Zepp(76)

-         Irbe looks to be the man in Carolina, and youngster Zepp will get a shot at back-up.  Decent but not good.

  1. Anaheim Mighty Ducks (78.25) –

-         Mike Richter(79), Antero Nittymaki(76)

-         With Richter reaching his end they have Antero Nittymaki stepping it up to take over the job in the near future.

  1. New York Islanders (77.75) –

-         Rick DiPietro(78), Thomas Duba(77)

-         I think this is the youngest tandem in the league.  They are like what..20 and 19 or something?  Sheesh, where’s the leadership?

  1. Nashville Predators (77.75) –

-         Ryan Miller(78), Tom Barasso(77)

-         Young Ryan Miller is the starter with Barasso being his teacher.  Not good but will try to get the job done.

  1. Atlanta Thrashers (76.50) –

-         Milan Hnilicka(77), Mika Noronen(75)

-         Hnilicka gives it his all night in and night out, but it’s just not enough.  Noronen hopefully can take over this team right away.

  1. Minnesota Wild (76.25) –

-         Manny Fernandez(78), Jamie McLennan(71)

-          The virtually untouched team better start making some trades.  Fernandez is alright but McLennan?  Like fuck, might as well bring back Red Light Racicot or something.
