MuleFHL Free Agency Rules
Read this entire document prior to making a free agent
bid.
Teams may offer UFA’s a contract
up to four years in length, with a yearly salary a maximum of
$15,000,000. A signing bonus can also be included, this bonus can be a maximum
of three times greater than the player’s yearly salary. Anyone can extend an
offer to an unrestricted free agent. No compensation will be sent to the team
losing the UFA.
Unrestricted Free Agents will go to the team offering the
best contract in terms of total value [(length x yearly salary) + signing
bonus].
There is no maximum to UFA signings per team.
Any team can place an offer on an RFA, but the
player’s current team has the final say on what happens to him. The player’s current team will automatically
match all RFA signings unless his team agrees to take compensation
instead. This is to avoid teams getting
“screwed over” due to inactive GMs.
However, in order to make RFA signings still possible, the compensation
has been slightly changed this year.
Schedule of compensation for MFHL
restricted free agents:
If new pro contract equals / new
team must give old team
up to $500,000/year / a 3rd
round pick
(must be a pick from the 2002
entry draft)
$500,001 to $900,000/year / a 2nd
round pick
(must be a pick from the 2002
entry draft)
$900,001 to $2,000,000/year / a 1st

(must be a pick from the 2002
entry draft)
$2,000,001 to $3,500,000/year /
two 1st round picks + cash equal to 1 year of new contract
(one pick must be from the 2002
entry draft)
$3,500,001 to $5,000,000/year/
three 1st round picks + cash equal to 1 year of new contract
$5,000,000/year or higher / cash
equal to 1 year of new contract + three 1st round picks + one first
round pick for every $1,500,000 above $5,000,000 (example, a $6,500,000 offer
would yield 4 1st round picks…$8,000,000 would yield 5 1st
round picks.)
(one pick must be from the 2002
entry draft)
If you don’t have the required
compensation, don’t make the offer. GM’s who make RFA offers that
they cannot back up with compensation will be fined.
Teams may offer a contract up to
four years in length, with a yearly salary a maximum of three times
the player’s current yearly salary.
Restricted Free Agents will also sign with the team offering
the best contract in terms of total value (length x yearly salary). Again, the
signing is contingent upon the RFA’s current team either matching the offer or
accepting the compensation.
No signing bonuses will be permitted in RFA
offers.
Teams may offer on as many RFAs as they want,
but they must have the compensation required, or else the offers will be
void!
Free Agency will be handled via email.
To make an offer on any type of free agent, you
must send an email to reisenbraun@shaw.ca
Use this format when making your offers.
Subj: [PLAYER NAME], [UFA or RFA]
Body of message:
[TEAM NAME] offers [PLAYER NAME] [YEARLY SALARY]
per year for [TERM] years (with a signing bonus of [BONUS AMOUNT] – UFA only).
For example,
::Subj: Eric Weinrich
::Columbus offers Eric Weinrich $2,500,000 per
year for 4 years with a signing bonus of $5,000,000.”
Offers that do not have the player’s name in the
title of the email will be tossed out.
Offers where the message body does not match this
exact format will be tossed out. Do not send me emails listing the total
contract amount. Break it down exactly as I have written it out above.
RFA offers which include a signing bonus will be
rejected (again, signing bonuses are permitted for UFA’s only).
A listing of the top bids for UFA’s and RFA’s
will be updated and published on the website daily. Get your bids in by 5 pm
mountain time to have them listed on that day’s update.
Monday and Tuesday, June 3rd and 4th,
will both count as the first day of bidding. This will give all GM’s a chance
to read the rules and get their first offers in.
The first high offer on a free agent will be the
one that is accepted. For instance, if GM #1 offers $3 million/year for 3 years
on Thursday, and GM #2 offers the same bid on Friday, GM #1’s bid will stand as
the highest bid.
GM’s offering the same high bid for the same FA
on the same day will both be listed under that free agent. If, at the end of
free agency, more than one GM holds the high bid on a free agent, a coin flip
will determine who gets the FA (in the case of UFA’s) or who signs the FA to an
offer sheet (in the case of RFA’s).
That’s all. ICQ or email me with any questions
Good luck.
