This is a wonderful teaching that the Holy Spirit gave me while preparing to teach a Christian foundations class several years ago. Many of my students have heard this teaching since and have liked it and it has even moved a friend to make bookmarks with the teaching.
Simply the basis for the teaching is how we relate to God and how can we know what God is doing especially when we as Christians go through troubling times.
God is the puzzle maker who by trials and tribulations shapes each of us to fit his puzzle. Some of us are sky pieces some are water pieces some are edge pieces but no one is more important then the other. God has blessed us with "free will" and by "free will" we can resist Gods attempts to fit us in to his puzzle and slow the process of his completing it. Or we can allow him to shape us and mold us into the exact "puzzle piece" he wants us to be.
As a puzzle piece is thin and small,so is our view of the whole picture God is trying to create. In fact we can only "see" the other "pieces" (family and friends) who touch our piece in the puzzle. God by virtue of being outside of time and space can see the entire picture and we can't.
God uses many ways to "shape" us into the "puzzlepiece" he needs to fit his "puzzle". Some of those are easy and hardly perceived by us others are difficult and cause us major hardships in our lives. But always we need to remember that Jesus promised believers there would be times of trial and tribulation. He states that we (believers) should pick up our cross and follow him-Matthew 16:24-26. And either way it is our choice through "free will". God is always with us and only wants the best for us at the end of the day. It is often our decisions and choices that have led to God being forced to place us in trials and tribulations to get us back on course.
Now my question for you is will you allow God to make you into the "Puzzle Piece" he needs for his puzzle?
