Shortly after the BRAES and BANCHORY residents association was formed it was decided to start forming neighbourhood watch schemes throughout the estate.

We took advice from the local police on how to develop the schemes, there advice was to form the watches street by street as doing the whole area at once would have been to big a task, the first street covered by the watch was NEWLANDS PLACE followed by MUIRSIDE ROAD, we will carry on in this fashion until we cover the whole area.

The area covered by the association is shown on the map above surrounded by a broad black line.

We do not have a lot of serious crime on the estate, mostly petty pilfering from garden sheds and cars also broken windows, however drugs were starting to find their way into the estate but thanks to the swift action of the police the problem is now minimal.

This is PC Ferguson, he is our community constable, PC Ferguson attends all our residents and neighbourhood watch meetings, he informs us of the type of crimes being committed in our area and gives us good advice on crime prevention, he also produces a monthly newsletter which is distributed to the neighbourhood watch  co-ordinators.
