to replay what was,
and to reflect on why.
and my broken thoughts
are being pieced together
as what i wanted to say,
what i should have said.
but my insecurities
and imperfections
don't make for good conversation
you inquired as to why
i was pretending to be invisible
because the silence was suffocating us
and worry was drowning you.
but i couldn't bring myself
to tell you
that i was comparing myself to perfection
and losing the contest
so to fill the silence
that was meant to hold truths,
i told you i was sorry.
it was all I could say
