Is Rogue a goth or not??

I'm getting really sick of everyone calling Rogue a goth. She is NOT.

Rogue wears dark colors. Yes, Rogue does wear dark colors. That alone is not a reason to claim that Rouge is a goth. I believe she wears them based on her personality. She's not exactly a happy person and being around people that can touch and wear whatever they want must be hard for her. Especially with the whole Scott/Jean thing. She has never had a first kiss in Evo and she probably never will without the chance of hurting someone. I mean do you really expect to see Rogue in flowers and Pink? I didn't think so.

Rogue's skin is pale. Yes, yours would be too if you had every square inch (except her face) covered up during the day. She's not an outside person either. Yes, I know her newer outfits expose her shoulders and stuff but still. Remember when Irene was talking to Mystique and she said she had taken precautions like "the phony skin problem"? My guess is she's had Rouge covered since she adopted her at 4.

Rogue wears a lot of make-up, especially white. I believe that is how Rogue copes with her powers. It's her way of hiding her face; her true self. I've noticed that the make-up decreases slightly after she joins the X-Men.

Anyway, I've done the best I can with this article. I would love to hear anyone else's opinion on the matter so please feel free to e-mail me.

Well, here's a comment from a very nice person that signed my guestbook.  D.c says:

MMm about the whole "goth thing", i think ppl can't really explain her attitude and don't know what to call her so they call her a goth. And in ways she is a goth. She doesn't like POP (THANK GOD), she's sarcastic(basically a smart ass at times), and who could forget the death glares? I think most ppl are annoyed about her being called a goth about her cloths. But Rogue is an enigma, you never really can figure out whats going thorugh that head of hers. Mood swings, heehee! But you know the thing i hate when i read fanfiction about her? Is that when she gets control of her powers she starts wearing "preppy" cloths, based by her skin color and her hair, she's the type of person you looks better in darker cloths, no pinks, whites, yellows. shes a winter person if you could say( i would kno cause i am too) Also how ppl thing she looks prettier with out make up(in the stories) i mean really her make up isn't that bad to me, in fact i think she looks pretty with it. And the final thing i hate is when they make devices to take away her powers... its just too easy! and if a device like that was made i think Rogue has too much pride, she's rather have control over her powers on her own time, and she's not a cry baby(hates to be pitied), one thing is for sure, she would never ever cry in front of some one if given the choice, like i said its hjer pride and stubborness. I think she thinks around the lines of "If you're not going to be strong i will."

Wow what can I say? I absolutly hate how people have Rogue have control over her powers in stories! I mean come on. Her powers are cool uncontrolable. It just...adds something. Anyway, I can't put those words better myself. I was thinking the same thing, just couldn't figure out how to word it.

Rogue is indeed a goth. my proof for this is from a magninfied view of the cell in which she is opening her locker. one of the magazines in her locker is "GOTH topic" which i am geuessing is a spoof of hot topic or tropic topic magazine. Mostlikely then she is a goth.

No denying it, there was a magazine in Rogue's locker called Goth Topic. I even have that image in my gallery. What does this prove? We have no idea what she was reading this for. For all we know, it could be a school project. Just because you read a magizine called Goth Topic does not make you a goth. Sorry, but all my proof up there compared to 1 magizine just doesn't compare.

I'm not going to say shes gothic, but that doesnt mean she doesnt like the style of it at least (That could explain the magazine article). You can like a style and not be that type of person. She's a shady darker toned person (so they make her), and shes got those problems, which make her even more of a moodier darker person. Her sarchasticness, her attitude, and her taste in music help define her darkened character even more, which to me, being a fan of the same music shows that there could be some disturbances (which she obviously has), so I can see that ppl will tend to lable her gothic. I will agree that she isnt gothic, but I'm figuring she likes the style seeing how its probably a way of life she can relate to, and adapt to easier. This is all just an opinion though, I only felt I had to mention this becuz I kinda see Rogue being a character thats sorta accustomed to me. So I am basically referring to what I've seen in the show, in text with myself. I hope this could be of some help to anything.

(If anyone didnt get the whole her liking the style and not actually being it, I can explain it a little. I'm not a gothic kid, but I do have a liking for the style, so I'll tend to buy gothic clothes, but kind of blend them with other types. In a way of things, I've got my problems (which everyone has) So I tend to be in the moodier of moods. What better way to express myself than to wear dark clothes and listen to music that I can relate to. Even though I'm the shadier type of person, inside and outside, I'm really a nice person, pretty much the type of person w/ a heart of gold (to fit that expression almost), and if I'm not correct, Rogue is like that as well...so that is the way I see my statement. I'm not gothic, but its tone and darkness is pretty much where I am in life, so I stay there. Its where she stays )
