Saiyans
The saiyans are one of the most powerful races in the universe. However, thanks to Frieza, there is only a handfull left now, with only 2 full-blooded saiyans out of all of them. Saiyans have the ability to gain more power as they dish out more pain. There are also many different forms and transformations that saiyans can go through to gain more power such as SSJ1-4, Oozauru which is a giant ape form achieved during a full moon, and if the saiyan still has his tail. Many of the younger z fighters such as Gohan, Trunks and Goten are half-saiyan and half-human, and gives them even more potential then full blooded saiyans.
Humans
The people of earth are not known for their power. There are some humans however, that have the ability to generate KI and have great fighting ability. However, their fighting ability does not really compare to that of the saiyans and the half saiyans.
Namekians
The namekians are a peaceful race, but most of them are still more powerful than the people of the human race. One notable feature about namekians is the ability to regenerate lost body parts, which comes in handy. Not to mention fusion, which helps a fighter become more powerful. Piccolo has fused a few times and is one of the more powerful z fighters in the series.
Androids
Basically an artificial race that was created by the evil genius Dr. Gero. The androids are a very powerful race that have infinte stamina. Also, their power levels cannot be detected making them very effective fighters. However, just about all the androids were programmed to kill Goku, and all were destroyed by the z fighters except 18 who marries Krillen, and 16 who had helped the z fighters before being killed by Cell.
Changelings
The changelings are also one of the most powerful races in the universe. They have the ability to transform into many different forms giving them an advantage for each form. Most changelings have a tail and appear a little bit like robots. Not to mention they have the ability to breathe in space.
Makyo-Jins
The Makayo-Jins are A sorta namekian lookalike race, they are not too powerful, but at the same time, only 2 Makyo-Jins were ever known. However, one feature is that all Makyo-Jins gain tremendous power whenever the Makyo-Star is shining. If the star is destroyed, they are basically pretty weak.
Arlians
Remember when Nappa and Vegeta destroyed a planet on their way to earth? Well Arlia and their people were all destroyed, so not much at all is known about them.
Yardinians
A race of good people, the Yardinians look like aliens. They did however help Goku return to earth when his ship crashed there. They also taught Goku the instant Transmission technique. However, Goku also got his heart virus when he was on this planet.
Konat-Jins
A pretty powerful race, Tapion from movie 13 was one of the only members that appeared in dbz from this race.
