About us
We live in the small town of Heswall
on the Deeside of the Wirral peninsular in the north-west of
England. We were both born in Liverpool and met in 1966 in a
Christian Coffee Bar in Toxteth. After we were married we moved
down south and lived west of London, initially in
Uxbridge, then Hayes and finally in Hazlemere. We were there for
19 years and raised a family there. We were part of a group of
Christians that eventually became The
King's Church, High Wycombe. On moving to Heswall we
attended The Church of the Good Shepherd for ten years and then
started to attend South
Liverpool Vineyard Church where we went for 6 years. We now attend
Pioneer People Pensby.
Clive took early retirement
at the end of January 2002, having worked for
Marconi Communications in its various guises
(Plessey, GPT, GEC/Siemens) for 35 years,
and Ruth retired at the beginning of April 2005.
Our Interests
- Christianity
- We are involved in Flame Christian Community Radio
which is a Christian Local Radio station.
- Family
- We have been married for 43 years. We have three
children, Johanna, Benjamin and Timothy. Johanna and Timothy are married and live
in Leeds and Leicester, respectively, with their spouses. Johanna attends Chapel A Baptist Church.
Timothy, and wife, Helen, attend Holy Trinity, Anglican Church in Leicester. Benjamin is widowed; he lost his wife Hannah to breast
cancer on New Year's Day 2010. There are seven grandchildren;
Johanna gave birth to Jacob on 10th December 2001 at 1330hrs, Hannah gave birth
to Joshua on 20th February 2004 at 1720hrs, and Johanna gave birth
to her second child Ira on 14th May 2004 at 1249hrs. Helen gave birth to Kaleb on 22nd
September 2006 at 1745hrs. Hannah gave birth to Charis on 22nd July 2007 at 0930hrs.
- Leisure
- We both enjoy watching football. Clive supports Everton
and Ruth supports Liverpool. We both enjoy listening
to folk music (contemporary and traditional) and Christian music (praise and worship).Click

to the hills at every opportunity. We have been on walking holidays with Ramblers Holidays to Italy (Trentino Highlands) in 1996, to Romania
(Brasov & Busteni) in 1997, to Austria (The Silvretta) in 1998, to Greece (Samos) in 1999,
to Greece (Kithnos & Serifos) in 2001, to Bulgaria in 2003, to Austria (Ladis) in 2004 and to Italy (Sorrento Peninsula) in 2007
and with Explore Worldwide to Crete in 2000 and
the USA in 2002. In 2005 we organised our own walking holiday in the Czech Republic (Jizerske
Mountains). We have visited Tenerife over the last few years and have done some walking there. We are members
of The National Trust, the
RSPB and The Ramblers Association.
- Hobbies
- Ruth collects thimbles and has about 600 in her
collection.Clive enjoys taking photographs; follow the
