BAND BIO
Shot Down Sun began on the Thanksgiving half day break of 2001. Vocalist Alex Aro, guitarist Jimmy Lantagne and bassist Matt Feugill were finally back in a band, after being broken up for almsot 4 months. They were in a band before called Hybrid Mind only Matt was the bassist and Alex the drummer and their bassist was Nate Dyer. On that half day, the band members went to Pizza Hut then it was practice time!
The first practice was successful, and the band produced their first song, Murderer. They still did not have a drummer. They had planned their first show on December 8th, 2001 at a party in Matt's basement. At that show the band played five original songs and a Deftones cover. They played one more show without a drummer at the Sad Cafe on January 4th.
Soon the band met Eric Beaubien however, and from there things began to shape up. The songs sounded much better and everyone was getting better at what they did in the band. Alex improved his singing, Matt got better on bass and Jimmy's guitar riffs improved with each song the band made.
The band began playing multiple shows and even landed the opening slot on last year's Pot Pig Roast where they played with bands like Gargantua Soul and B-Movie Xtras. From there the band just continued to play shows and recently they celebrated their one year anniversary and now they are planning out the details on recording their debut album "Malevolence". The local world has only seen a taste of what Shot Down Sun can do, and this year the band is ready to show the world what they are really capable of.
