SUGAR PINE ACRES - BROOD MARES

YUCCA FLICKA BAR
"Molly"
Black Breeding Stock Mare - Registered APHA
This mare is the "Goose that layed the Golden Egg". All of her babies are absolutely beautiful. Definitely showstoppers. Molly is 19 years old and has always been a brood mare. She has never been broke to ride. We just bought her 3 years ago. She is the mother to Poco's Misty Dawn, Poco's Fancy Image and Poco's Nikita Twist (new 2001 foal) Will be identical color to Poco's fancy image.
Willow - Not Registered
Willow is the mother of Poco's Smokey Bandit".She is 20 years old now and has been my riding horse for the last 15 years. Her enthusiasm has made each and every ride fun. I have used her for trailrides, Competitive trail rides, Team Cattle Penning and Cattle roundups. Sometimes it's hard to tell who is having more fun her or me. She loves to go to new places to explore. We have ridden all over the Cypress Hills in Saskatchewan & Alberta, in the mountains, Writing on Stone Park and from Fort Walsh to Coutts (a 10 day ride 200 miles). We have seen some beautiful country over the past 15 years. Willow has earned the nickname of "the Iron Horse" for her stamina. I always wished I could have gotten into endurance riding with her. I used to ride with endurance riders at Fort Walsh when they would come to condition their horses. She could out perform their horses every time. She has the most beautiful smooth trot and is very sure footed and agile (can gallup up and down hills with hobbles on). She is a fabulous bush horse. We have ridden on a lot of very treacherous trails, the tougher the trail the better she works.
Willow loves to work with cattle. We round up cattle in the Cypress Hills in a lot of bush country. Sometimes the cattle will get away in thick bush, all I have to do is give her her head and she will bring me right back to them. When we are trailing the cattle, I give her her head and just relax. She watches the cattle and goes back and forth nudging stragglers and is always ready for one that runs. If I want speed, I never have to kick her or use spurs, all I have to do is change position in the saddle and we have instant speed. She is fabulous at Team Cattle Penning, has had 28 - 38 second times.
