James White, owner of the Broken Spoke, welcomed Tillman Franks to Austin, Texas Friday, Dec. 15, 2000. Tillman booked many of his acts into the Broken Spoke through the years. James was a great host and Tillman had a good time renewing many old friendships.

Sammy Allred, left, one of Austin's top radio personalities, served as host for Tillman's visit to Austin, along with James White of the Broken Spoke. Sammy is on KVET in Austin. He is also a member of the team, the Geezenslaw Brothers. Sammy was nice enough to give a Geezenslaw CD to everyone who purchased a book from Tillman.

Tom Tomlinson, right, came out in Austin to greet Tillman. Tom is the son of Johnny Horton's guitar picker Tommy Tomlinson. Tommy was injured in the wreck at Milano, Texas on Nov. 5, 1960. That wreck took Johnny's life. Tom was born and raised in Shreveport, La., but moved to Austin several years ago.
