JACK

We purchased Jack, a Lhaso Apso, about four years ago after our cat, Tika, had to be put to sleep due to a terminal illness. We went to a local pet shop and Patti fell in love with the cute little puppy. We brought him home and named him Cracker Jack, Jack for short.

Patti's feelings soon changed when Jack's destructive nature became evident. We lived in an upstairs apartment at the time and we were trying to teach Jack to do his job on newspapers. Nothing worked.

We ended up moving in with my parents for a short while after this. After spending time with my sister's dog, Puppy, Jack learned how to use the bathroom outside.

Jack soon fell from Patti's grace. We went on a camping trip one summer a few years ago. It was evening time and we thought we would take a nice hike around the lake. Patti was in front walking Jack. All of a sudden, I heard a snap, and then Patti started screaming. It turned out that Jack had stopped right in front of her, and to avoid stepping on him, she accidently tripped over a root and shattered her ankle. Patti's foot has never been the same, and to this day, she blames Jack.

Jack developed some severe behavioral problems and began to mess on the carpets, even after being let out. He also turned vicious against our youngest son, Alex. Sadly, we had to have Jack put to sleep.
