~*~General Information~*~

How did man first domesticate the horse? We don’t know but its certain that around 9,000 years ago the hunter-gatherers of Western Asia kept goats, pigs, and cows as animals, then soon horses. They breed the horses according to the work they needed to do, like we still do today. In 1492 Columbus sailed the ocean blue and discovered America not to mention he introduced horses into the US. Here the legacy of the Western Horse was to be born. The horses in America varied to the Red Indian pony to the mounted cavalry.
So what made the great need for horses die?
It was the creation of the steam engine and the industrial revolution, which led to the bicycle and the internal combustion engine.
It’s likely that before domestication occurred the early relationship between man and horse was simply hunter and prey. The bones of 10,000 horses were found at the foot of a solutre cliffs in France. In 1519 was the year the horse arrived in the form of five mares and eleven stallions brought to Mexico by Hernando Cortes. Thus they breed the “Cowboy” horse. But because the Spanish did not believe in or practice castration and also because of the temperate climate-namely because of the lush green grass of Mexico, the number of horses increased dramatically and eventually Mexico was over stalked with horses and set them free into the wild thus the Mustang was created.
